Photo Request: Mounted OEM GT R Wheel, with Center Cap Removed
Would appreciate if anyone has, or can take, a photo of the GT R OEM Wheel mounted on car, with 3 Pointed Star Center Cap removed please.
I would like to check the clearance behind this center cap to see about potential fitment of the Rimgard wheel lock solution.
Thank you so much 🙏
The GT R OEM wheel of interest (or the other 2 available GT R Wheels):
From the wheel and caliper finish - this is likely a GT R Pro, but hopefully we can assume same clearances as the GT R.
Will definitely report back with findings.
The Rimgard locks look to be such an elegant, effective solution if they fit!
The TiKT brake ducts - excellent; will be doing those soon as well 👍
The TiKT ducts are quite expensive, but I consider them to be an investment in that they should help the rotors (and pads) to last much longer (and the carbon-ceramic rotor cost is rather high).

Rimgard locks appear the most effective and attractive solution for securing our OEM wheels that I've encountered in my research and experience, and are easily removable for access before a track day.
Alternatives that use variations of actual lug bolt, or lug nut (with stud conversion), etc are defeated with ease.

Other than perhaps your own locked garage on your private property, no "someplace" is safe, esp during this more acute desperation of Pandemic times.
If a knowledgeable theft team hits, wheels disappear in under 1-2 minutes, and you find your vehicle on cement blocks or worse.
OEM Wheels, especially MB OEM Wheels, are primary fodder for thieves.

This is my final solution: Minimally less weight (screws / sleeves are made of aluminum)
Quick and easy wheel change. Protection of the ceramic brake discs and, as an additional plus, increased theft protection.
Like the look.
Kind regards.

The protection of the carbon brake discs consists in the fact, when a wheel dismantled or reassembled, it is guided.
The rim can not hit the brake disc in an uncontrolled manner. (Murphys law)
Carbone discs are sensitive to lateral forces or impacts.
Wheel studs effectively prevent this.
Without fixed wheel studs, it is generally advisable to use a mounting stud.
One of the best tools. And so simple. A real recommendation for the tool kit.
There is a inexpensive (about 6.- USD) Mercedes-Benz aluminum mounting stud. (M14x 1.5)
Part number: A 204 581 00 74
Kind regards.
