AMG GT Black Series - Ride Height?

I read somewhere that the AMG GT Black Series has a ride height adjustment on the suspension and can be lowered, is that true?

Only camber and sway bars can be adjusted on the BS unless I'm mistaken. The BS went back to adaptive dampers. The GT R Pro has manually adjustable coilovers including ride height I believe, but with adaptive dampers, ride height is generally not adjustable unless it's an air suspension.

Where does this say they are height adjustable? It only says compression and rebound are adjustable via two external valves. As said, that makes for the adaptive nature of the dampers.

I did and I'm not sure what you are seeing. Even according to the owner's manual you can only adjust camber, wheel load distribution and anti-roll characteristics.

Hi,

You need glasses. :-) :-) O.k. the pic in link is not so good.

Here is a better picture of a GT Black Series shock absorber with spring and adjuster.

Nuts and treads looks same at GTR. You can screw about a 1/4 - 1/2 inch deeper.
If you remove the limitation ring (also with thread, but is secured with a pin/rivet, I think so that it remains street legal) you can get deeper.

You can also see the two electric valves (only BS):
R = Rebound C = Compression

Think the owners manual is not complete. ;-)

Best regards

Stenzel

Fair enough, although that's meant to corner weight the car for specific tracks. Not sure the suspension geometry still works if you lower/raise the entire suspension. AMG actually specifically says in the owners manual not to change it from factory setting for the road. Only do it for the track to change load distribution. I guess the question is what OP is looking for.

I suppose what I'm really saying is that any suspension adjustment has to factor in the aero as well.

Found the link ... it can be lowered 5mm at the front and 3mm at the rear.

Hi,

Limitation Ring removed?
or anything from the aftermarket should fit.

I'm not a racing engineer, but since everything is adjustable, lowering it (1 - 1.5 inches?) shouldn't be a problem. (Except on bad race tracks) You can get the chassis geometry right again.
And i don't know the BS struts in particular, but the installation height shouldn't play a role. The hydraulic part is controlled in exactly the same way. If not so, you would just have to shorten the length.

The aerodynamics shouldn't suffer as a result; it should even generate a little more downforce thanks to the smooth underbody.

However, the suitability for everyday use certainly suffers. :-)

Best regards

Stenzel
