Oil Separator Leaking 2020 GTC

Thumbs down Oil Separator Leaking 2020 GTC
I had my oil warning light come on recently. After driving for a couple of minutes. Dropped it off at dealership this morning. After analysis they told me the oil separator is leaking. Never heard of "oil separartors" before so not sure what they actually do. Service advisor said he has seen this issue before but isn't very common. I have 31k miles on it and have driven it pretty lightly (no tracking). To fix quoted $2700 which includes 8 hours of labor. Apparently it is challenging to access to fix. Anyone else familiar with this issue? And know if that is a "reasonable" quote to have fixed?

not M178 that you have specifically but it is an issue alongside the RMS for M177:
