Please Help!!

As some of you may know I recently purchased a 2000 E55, which I am very happy with. I always do the detailing on my cars. Well, yesterday I made the BIG mistake of letting this mobile detailer that washes the cars in my office building wash my car. I didn't notice until this morning that he must have used some kind of strong degreaser on my wheels ( I have the factory AMG ) and now they are extremely hazy and spotty (especially on the lip), and it will not come off! I think that whatever he used must have been acidic and looks like it messed up the clearcoat. I hope I have explained the problem, because I am looking for some help on what can possibly clear them up. I am very worried! Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I hate to tell you but you're pretty much SOL. The above thread is for polished wheels. W210 E55 wheels are clear coated.

Best bet is to clay bar them and go for some heavy duty car polish. Treat them like the paint on the car. They are the same.

Oops. Well there goes my help!

I guess I was right in the very beginning when I suggested clay bar!

Thanks for the input. Does anyone know where I can get some clay bar?
As a matter of fact I tried waxing them last night, and noticed that it did help it some but not completely. I think that even though I will not be able to fix them 100%, I would like to get them as cleared up as possible.

Most auto stores will have it. Meguires is probably the most mainstream brand. Use lots of lube/detail spray or even soapy water.

Wax is not the same as polish. The latter is abrasive and must be followed by the former.

Wash, Clay, Polish, Wax in that order.

If you're really serious into detailing and what not, www.zainobros.com (Zaino) sells an entire kit which includes clay, shampoo, and wax(es)./

and so does almost any other company. zaino may work well ( i havent tried it yet ) but it cost too much for the same products as meguiars. The thing that i like about Meguiars is that it is found at various stores and all the products that i have tried worked well for me from removing light and major scratches to protection and the gloss appearance.

You're going to need a light polish... not light abrasive, but a chemical cleaner/polish. Just make sure no abrasives. One of the best for your needs is Klasse All-In-One (AIO). You won't find it at most local stores (who knows?), but look for it on-line. Clay bar will help, but if the stains are etched in the clear then you'll need to polish them out. Once you polish the wheels use an acrylic sealer to protect and really make them shine.

Klasse is probably not agressive enough to remove the chemically burned clearcoat. Worth a shot though. It is a damn good product.

As a maintenance product for wheel surfaces Klasse is a very good choice.
As you need a polish for the wheel surface you should find 3M's products readlily available [3M™ Perfect-It 3000 Swirl Mark Remover]
JonM

FWIW Zaino's ZPC Fusion would also be a good choice [next Internet order?]
