Used Zaino finally...

and when i got home i noticed like streaks like i didnt buff it out hard enough or water spots. Well I tried buffing them off and it was really hard to do some of it didnt come off. I used ZFX and only did two coats of Z5 for now, one on saturday and one on sunday. Maybe I was supposed to put the Z2 on also I am not sure. I am planning to do that next weekend. I did follow all the instructions zaino gave, dawn wash, clay bar etc. Anybody know what I might have done wrong? Maybe I just didnt buff it off hard enough.

applied to 'heavy' a coat likely

A heavy coat of Z5 may cause streaks. I suggest that you wash it with Z7, dry well and just use a misting of Z6 to see if that clears things up before putting on any more Z2 or Z5.

If that works you could then add another coat if you like.

Probably a bit generous on application. You dont actually need that much. Better to do two light coats, otherwise the excess smudges everywhere, builds up on your buffing cloth and smudges it all over the car again. Streaks should wash off easily.

Sorry to digress, but is that interior in a US car? Is it a Designo leather color?

Did you even read the instructions?

First of all, if you are using ZFX, you don't use both Z2 and Z5. You pick one, and mix it with the ZFX, and apply it.

Second, once mixed, the ZFX+Z2 or ZFX+Z5 should be used within 6 hours. Using the same batch to apply coats on two different days is probably a bad idea.

Third, if you're getting streaking, you put way too much on. If you're doing it right, 1oz of Z2 or Z5 plus the ZFX should give you 3 coats to cover a sedan.

I put 3 coats of Z5 on my old water spot-etched 300E and it looks pretty darn good. I can only imagine what Z2 looks like. This is good stuff. If you put it on too thick, it will take a lot longer to dry, especially if it's cold outside.

I had the garage heated and left it on awhile. I think the streaks were a combination of too much in that spot and the fact that I used the same ZFX enabled stuff after 6 hours. We all live n learn. Next time I will know.

~One man’s opinion / observations~

I’m glad it worked out for you
Zanio was voted the number one synthetic polymer sealant by an independent testing body (Guru Reports) its application process has a small learning curve, but once mastered the results are well worthwhile. This is the product I use for the preparation of concourse vehicles (or any vehicle that requires a ‘show car’ shine

FWIW- Detailers Tips:
1. Apply this product using water-dampened applicator, then spray the applicator with Z6.
2. Apply Z-solution very thinly using absolute minimum pressure on the applicator.
3. Spray the vehicle surface very lightly with Z6 between each ‘layer’.
4. I cannot emphasise ‘apply products very sparingly’ enough. Ease of product removal is inversely proportional to the amount used (less product easier removal)
5. Use Z-5 + ZFX for dark colours Z-2 + ZFX for light colours.
6. Use Souverän Wax as a final product on red, black or Porsche Speed yellow it produces a deep wet shine or Pinnacle Signature Series Wax for metallic and for light coloured vehicle paint
7. The secret to the application of a polymer product is to apply it thin (super thin) fill a spray bottle and mist a foam pad for application.
8.If there are places were the wax is thick and you are having trouble buffing the residue, wash affected panel with a Z-7 wash solution.

~Hope this helps~

do you guys use the Zaino applicators, or do you use micro-fibre towels? I'm getting black and want to avoid swirls like the plague.

I thought the zaino pads absorbed and wasted too much product. I use the speed applicator from Malm’s with its foam pads. It can apply the wax in a thin and even manner.

Cotton or the micro fibers to remove the wax work the same for me. Just remember to use clean everything and that there is no need to press that hard when doing anything to the finish.

applicator

I use the foam pads that you can buy at places like Wal-mart. They are similar to the foam pads supplied with the 'regular' car waxes. I just dampen it, give it a quick spray of Z6 and that's it.

No swirls using this method.

how soon after you get the car, should you apply the zaino? should you do the initial treatment right away, or does the car come pre-treated to some degree?

You don't have to wait...just wash with Dawn to get the dealer prep wax off. If the paint doesn't feel super smooth, use a clay bar with the Dawn as the lubricant.

Its a long day if you do 3 coats with zfx at one time. I don't mix up too much since I use about 1/2 to 3/4 oz per coat on my E.

Look at the stickies and follow the instructions.
