2007 Bluetec Mileage???

What kind of mileage are you guys getting?

We have only been getting about 25 mpg with mixed highway and city driving. That is with normal accelleration from stops.

I thought these cars should get better mileage.

Car has 10,000 miles on it already.

I don't have a Bluetec, but my '08 GL 320 is getting 21-22 in mixed City/Hwy driving. There are no official EPA ratings but the unofficial is 20/25 for the GL. I am happy with that, but hoping for a little improvement since it only has 2200 miles.

25 mpg sounds high if it was mixed highway and city the way I would assume. But mixed city and highway to you might be something completely different.

Would you have highway only figures at a decent speed?

25 mpg mixed could still be OK if it actually has quite much city driving or if the city driving is at congested roads.

Finally, have you been reading the instrument cluster or calculated back from fill ups? The instrument cluster might be incorrectly calibrated.

What is the average speed, and what is your tire pressure?

Also, have you tried different sources for your fuel?

Tried a few different gas sations, but we are using the ultra low sulfer fuel. The car has 18" wheels off an E63 running about 35 psi. Avereage on the highway is 75 mph.

It seems plausable that those wheels could have an impact on fuel economy. I would expect 2-3 mpg difference with standard wheels.

E320 Bluetec mileage

I just returned from a highway trip through the coast range mountains, from Kamloops to Vancouver. Maintaining speeds of 110-120 kph over a distance of 360 kms, my Bluetec averaged 6.8 L/100 kms or 41.54 mpg (imperial) or approx. 34.6 mpg (US).
Outside temperatures ranged from - 1.5C to +13C.
The route taken over the Coquihalla Highway climbs up to the summit @1440 metres, before a gradual descent to Vancouver.

I just took a 621 mile road trip this weekend and averaged 32.6 MPG at an average of 66 MPH (Everett to Spokane and back). I passed the 46,000 mile mark along the way.

Did you mean a highway near Port Coquillan, hometown of the crazy murderous pork farmer?

With my CDi I get in flat earth Toronto 26 mpg city (Imperial) to 39 mpg highway.

Turbo engines performed best when the weather is cool and compared with non-turbo ones, better at high altitudes. The turbo compresses the air before combustion so provide more oxygen for the engine.

Smile 2005 CDI milage

Two days after picking my "pre-owned" 2005 CDI with 18000 miles took a 200 mile trip to Key West. 35mpg on the highway coming and going average speed about 60mph didn't check the tire pressure but knowing dealers I'm sure it is high. Getting 24mpg around town w/no highway. Haven't owned a diesel since my 65 rabbit. I'm back in heaven again. Still not use to its pickup.

I am getting 33+ with the KD-Box on Bluetec, averaging 70mph; I drive mostly highway at 80mph.

Just checked the mileage since it was reset 4000 miles ago. Now we are getting 26 MPG. The car has 12,000 miles on it now.

Currently Driving a BMW 325 Sport Wagon
I am assuming 26MPG is your combined (city/highway) which I think is very good. I just checked my 3-Series wagon and I was down to 22.5 combined city/highway again on premium fuel...

Pinebaron,

How do you change the settings on your KD Box for more or less power? Do you have any instructions? Any help would be great.

I did not know the Kleemann KD box is adjustable. Is it adjustable just for the Bluetec V-6 engine?

I thought I read another thread in this forum that it had 3 or 4 settings. From like no change to super duper gas guzzer power punching hot rod(technical term).

The instructions reccommend leaving the setting to #5 for Bluetec; I just left it there and have not tried to change it. There are no instructions (for my Bluetec version) to adjust power. I think the CDI version had a different set of instructions.

I am more than happy with the reccomended setting.
