White smoke

White smoke coming from exhaust. Check engine light on. Car runs fine. Seems to be more smoke when air conditioning on. What could be the issue?

Could be a few things. How are your fluids? Are you low on coolant, etc?

Gonna need more info including year, model, engine, etc.

it doesn’t smoke on start up...it only does it after been running awhile. Think it might be coolant too.

White smoke? Or white vapor? Vapor dissipates immediately. Smoke takes a bit longer. If vapor, STOP immediately. A very very long time ago, I too had white smoke and figured i’d take Car in for service (not an MB). Long story short, it wasn’t smoke and engine seized before I got it checked out. Lesson learned.

Why wouldn't you scan the car and see why the check engine light is on?

Does the exhaust smell like ammonia? If so then it is a failure of the SCR adblue system. Take it to the dealer since you are under warranty. They will most likely have to replace your entire exhaust.

I have a certified used '14 e250 BlueTec w/ 45k miles and this just started to happen to me today. Started with an amber engine light on indicator on the way to work and just now on the way home noticed white smoke our of the exhaust and VERY strong ammonia smell. Have an appointment with the local MB service department in the am. I hope it is covered under warranty!

Dieselskillet, I just had the same issue as you described on a '14 e250 Bluetec with 42k miles....same symptoms as you described. I got my car CPO, my repairs were covered under warranty. My repair order noted that the temperature sensor was faulty, after the sensor was replaced, the tech noticed that the valve was sticking and thus the car had to stay another couple of days waiting for parts. Car is back but under load, I noticed it would puff a huge blume of grey smoke. The chrome exhaust tips were coated with a yellowish goo. I took a picture and sent it to my service advisor. I washed the car (making sure the exhaust tips were clean) and continued driving. 900 miles later, the smoking has lessened, there is slight yellow tint on the exhaust pipe.

Please keep us posted on your experience.

Thanks,
