I know these engines are looser than snot, but it seems like a lot. At operating temprature there is enough force to the air to hold a 2 sheets of paper completely off the hose.

ML 350 bluetec om642 178k tuned no dpf

I wonder if somehow the egr is stuck open? What do you all think?

I always do the test on oil fill hole. All my diesels will not blow single napkin.

On this diesel it flings oil out the oil fill when the cap is removed.

Seems like an oil analysis would be money well spent.

Not when you put napkin over it.
When you have excessive blowby, compression test or smoothness test is in order.

Blackstone Labs is the one I hear about the most, I've only dealt with them once myself.

Blackstone will send you sample containers with prepaid shipping for sending them back. You can order on the net, or call them.
They are not very fast, so you have to be patient with them.

What oil did you use? Doesn't look like synthetic.
It is good report, what you want?

To know why I use a quart every 500 miles. more when cold and why it smokes at high rpm...

Replace PCV valve and install oil catch can. This should help.

I already have a catch can. Do you have the pcv part number by chance?

I think this is the one for your car.

How you installed catch can? Did you cut the hose from pcv valve to turbo intake?
