Time to install and issues
Hi all,
2012 ML350, 165,000 miles. 7 days to install AEM. Was given a new GLB250 loaner with 400 miles when I got it. Took a call to the service manager to get any kind of update. Within 10 miles of pickup, had CEL, but haven’t returned to fix that. Have had the slow start 2-3 times per week. Can’t find a common factor when it happens. Dropped my wife’s E250 (90,000 miles) when I picked up the ML. Kept the loaner. E250 took 16 days. Again, no call from dealer. Had to call service manager again to find out what was happening. Parts delay was the excuse. Have picked up the E250, no issues at all. Returned loaner with 2100 miles some 23 days after I got it. Loved the new loaner and The technology. Very surprised the service advisor totally ignored my texts and calls, but the SM was very good. glad I got the update and the warranty! Dealer was Mercedes of Jackson, MS. They have always been very good...maybe just got the wrong SA this time....
safe travels, everyone!

That gives you impression about job ethics in different dealerships.
I had 3 Bluetecs for AEM and all of them were ready the following day.
MB of Henderson (Las Vegas) not only makes appointments available within 2 days, but now they are nagging me to bring my 4th bluetec and are bombarding me with solicitation for bringing E250 for additional service after "courtesy" inspection.
But they cancel free cappuccino for paid bar.

My GL was completed same day. The ML took 4, due to overbooking and missing one part.
Both run perfectly as before. No codes. The ML feels like it has more power.

My rebuttal show
1. dealers are getting well paid for doing the modifications. I don't know if that is more or less than other jobs, but..
2 they have steady flow of jobs at the pace that they can dictate
3. they can keep vehicle for 1 week on hold and do 1 hr modification at their convenient time
4. customers bringing car for free modification are not going to be demanding and not asking 1000's question, like that often happens with cash jobs.
The dealer doing modifications on my car, still had time to perform "courtesy inspection" and serve me $7000 proposal for additional services.
Sounds like job solicitation on headquarters expense.

Took it back in - o-ring on fuel line not properly seated. Starts well and no more fuel smell. Yay.

Had my 102,000 mile 2014 E250 updated last month.
CEL came on within 100 miles, reported as a software issue, fixed and given back.
CEL came on again within another 100 miles - at the dealership now after they towed it back, car had problems maintaining highway speeds
Status unknown at this point...

So I got AEM done last week on my 2013 GL350, it has 108k miles....here are the things I noticed:
-
1. car is running but hotter, gets to 90 degree really quick after the cold start as compared to before
2. the response seems much better on the throttle, picks really good and runs smoother
3. The mpg on the display has improved a lot, I used to get 24 mpg on highway, now got 28mpg on the same route
4 however, the disturbing thing is that in 400 miles of driving after the AEM, on two different occasions and after the approximately 7-8 minutes of cold start....I got sudden power loss while starting off on a signal stop....like the rpm goes suddenly down as if the engine has stalled and then comes back up....so like if I picked up from dead stop, the rpm raises litttle above 2k and then sudden drops to 1k and then goes back up.....I have contacted the dealer and they yet have to come back on this.....has anyone else experienced that?????

My GLK (95K miles) underwent the campaign and then the check engine light started lighting up. DEF cumulus clouds issuing from the tailpipes. The vehicle has now been at the dealership (Carlton in Greenville) for a week now as they try to fix the problem. They have created a case with MBUSA. I got a Ford Fusion as a loaner. The GLK had been trouble-free until this point. When and how should I begin to raise a ruckus over this?

You guys are all up in arms with an exhaust modification that has nothing to do with the mother f'ing engine and/or transmission. So those are issues which are SEPARATE. Dear lord.

just to share what dealer thinks when I reported the issue...he says your motor mounts were weak plus transmission fluid was changed so the cause may be these two items...upon my challenging his claim he came back after two days saying that they will charge me $210 for diagnosis....if it comes out to be emissions then they will reimburse me otherwise it will be either motor mounts or transmission....how can I trust him when he thinks it was transmission or motor mounts gene the things that triggered the fault was their emissions work....

Ability to read is the most valuable skill. The folks in my circle all well paid, they are not regularly using F word for a good reason: they read a lot. F word add no value.
In this case, the paper from dealer is clear: they replaced and added some emmision hardwares, and updated software.
Since emmision parts will not change driving behavior, so is it possible that the software did????
It is common sense that software now control how the car behave (manage engine and transmission, etc. )

I have a remote starter installed on my car from midcity engineering. I have a 15 gl350. My car was at the dealer for 4 weeks. They couldn’t update the software Bc the remote start I guess wouldn’t the interfaces communicate. They removed the remote start without me authorizing. Can anything be done?
