I would say you hit the jackpot, hoping something like will happen while mine is under the emissions warranty and Imwill,do the same thing!
I brought my GL350 back 06/21 for excessive oil burn as it failed oil consumption test. dealer replaced the turbo, and tech that replaced the turbo creates other issues because I noticed a strong smell of burning oil or diesel coming from the car when I picked it up it ended up a leaking fuel injector. And in addition to that car still excessively burns oil.
Dealer did another oil consumption test October 2021 and oil consumption was 0.1 away from failure so the didn’t do anything to fix oil burn.
I wish I knew this GL350 will be such a hot mess in terms of emissions and oil consumption I think it’s time for me to get represented by an attorney.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
unless i find a 04 e320 cdi
And want to charge 2.5 hrs labor for it.
How many folks get the same call from dealer during AEM?
Only 2 possibility here: oil cooler gasket is easy to leak, or dealer want earn some profit.

Sprinter is Mercedes, yet I need separate license for it. Additionally the 5 years old models usually are still not included.
1. Dealer calls a few days ago after 20 days in the shop asking if I have spear key
2. Dealer called today saying hey Your EIC is bad we cant start the car. I'm like hey I brought you in a working car with a working ignition. He claims the ECU upgrade can fry the ignition. Wanted me to pay 1250. I loled and said ill be calling mbusa.
here we go!
The AEM almost changed the entire emmision system. If it is done in MB factory, maybe half dozen technicians get involved, and each one of them have months of training.
So in short, the assembly quality is highly doubtful. If you count in the MB historical reliability on newly designs, this AEM will go wrong sooner or later.
That is why I opt out from the bigger class, and joined a smaller class.
My class is graduating now. The money part can cover the inflation factor for at least a decade.
And I hope if something goes wrong, I can get attention from my attorney at the low teacher to student ratio class.
The purchase price of the scanner covers ONE MANUFACTURER indefinitely. If you want to use the scanner with additional makes, you will need to pay about $20 for each of those manufacturers and they MUST BE RENEWED each year. So, my advice would be to buy an additional scanner(s) for the other make(s) you have in your garage because down the road, a $49 one time purchase will work out to be much less over time than $20/year per additional make, if you plan to keep your non-MB car(s) for more than a couple years.
So, basically, get an HT200/AP200 for every make of car you own that you plan on keeping for more than two years.

Walmart currently has this for $52.95.
Regardless, both of the cars I want to cover are Benzes.
[edit] Apparently, there is a MaxiAP AP200, then there is the AP200C/H/M series. The AP200M is the most powerful of the three and gives you a free year for one manufacturer. Not sure if the AP200 has the same range of functionality. There is no mention of renewing the service, so I assume it's free for life.

By the way, my dealer wants $549 to do the oil cooler leak without an oil change.
How much time and parts is it really once they're in there for the AEM? I'd much rather pay $300 than $500.

I asked them: you can't do aem and waiting for parts, then how do you know it is leaking???
That guy paused for 10 seconds, then whispered: of course we see oil leaks!
My second question: is it actually 0.5 hr job to replace a gasket?
He said: yes
My next question: why you charge 2.5 hrs?
He said: I can't change it!
So in short, sounds like a scam to me. But hope no worry about this most expensive repair in the future. ( I spent $2700 4 years ago to repair the same problem)
Stuck between some sunk cost fallacy where trading it in is a huge loss or taking a big loss to do all the upcoming major maintenance. Starting to realize the mpg savings of this diesel compared to something like an lx570 doesn't outweigh the maintenance cost. Feels a lot more fragile than the legendary mb diesels of the past...
