No @xsramo you are not gambling if you do it the way the settlement provides relief for post AEM vehicles:

the cost of any OBD Diagnostic Scan for malfunctions that trigger the MIL, regardless of whether the malfunction is attributable to a part that is covered under the Extended Modification Warranty, is covered and Free to post AEM vehicles..

The cost of troubleshooting to determine the reason for a malfunction is covered and Free only if the malfunction is determined to be attributable to a part that is covered under the Extended Modification Warranty,”

Most people are used to just dropping the vehicle off and asking for it to be checked out, which is understandable, but if you want to not gamble about the troubleshooting cost, you’ll have to be clear with the service writer that you will approve troubleshooting only after scan results are provided.

I've been hesitant to respond to the recall as I'm worried I'll end up with more problems than my current situation. I do have a CEL light -181b00 - The Soot Particulate Sensor has a Malfunction. According to my iCarSoft MBII, the soot level is at 84%, but the CEL can be cleared, but does return (14 ML350 for reference). I live in a no emissions check state and my def is tuned out. I'm guessing the 3500 will not cover the cost of the fix to the def. At this point, the vehicle has over 100K and is not worth that much on the secondary market. I'd like to drive it into the dirt. I figure a full tune would run about 3K (my own wrenching). Has anyone taken a tuned vehicle in?

84% of soot should not trigger CEL, so you have to have other problems.
Why the hesitation about doing AEM ?
They fix your drive, give you 4 years warranty on old car and then you get 3 grands check to sweeten the deal.
If you don't like the sequence - you better change your doctor.

finally got my check for 3590... the saga is finally over. Ended up selling the GL last month to driveway for more than retail.

2015 with close to 110k miles. was upcoming on a bunch of maintenance stuff like all the filters(oil, air, fuel etc), needed brakes and tires, felt like air suspension stuff was nearing the corner, etc etc.
they gave me $24k which seems like what they're selling for on autotrader if not less with more options than mine. The local mb dealer offered me $16k lol

Soot % is not the issue. I did monitor on a long highway trip yesterday and it did regenerate at 100%. The CEL code says the soot particulate sensor has a malfunction. I'm guess it's not enough of an issue to prevent a regen. I clear it and it stays off for a few days only to return.

My issue with the recall is that I had the DEF deleted about 2 years back. Components are there but the ecu is modified to turn it off. I'm guessing I've nullified the eligibility. I also dont want it turned on only to have to replace it for about the cost of the check I'd get only to end up where I started.

My last Bluetec has DPF delete, but my understanding is that they will re flash whole ECU and put new DPF, so when I am getting 2nd ECU to save the delete for potential use in 5 years, I will take it for AEM with empty DPF.
I heard somebody had similar situation and dealer did AEM without any questions. Will know for sure once the AEM parts come to America.

Anybody recently get the update completed that needed an EGR? Dealer just called to confirm my upcoming appointment and I informed them I would be there, but wanted to know if all the parts were in. The scheduler said she was going to check with parts and then came back on the line and informed me that all parts were in. I have my doubts and have a feeling that I will leave the dealership and receive a call shortly thereafter or the next day informing me they don't have an EGR. Has anyone received an EGR in the recent weeks?

@91stealthes , my 2009 GL320 has been with the dealer for the past 3 months waiting on a replacement EGR. They are backordered with no known ETA, at least for this model. You'd better make sure you have a loaner.

I am still waiting for notification to return for AEM after I was told to come pick my car back up because they were waiting on EGR. That was April 25th. I’m in Texas

Thank you both! I do have a loaner scheduled.

I called my advisor and he double checked and the EGR ordered for my vehicle is backordered. But, he still wants me to come in to take care of the brake booster inspection.

Interesting call this morning with my MB Dealer discussing Brake Booster and the Diesel Recall on my ML350....she said the Brake Booster has to be made and isn't expected until October and there's still no timeframe on the EGR. I said this is crazy, Mercedes should be buying back the vehicles and she said are actually doing that. I was so surprised had never heard that before....now get ready, I asked how much and she said $3500!! So you lose the $3500 settlement because the AEM was never done and they give you $3500 and take the car. What a @$% deal.

Straight buy on used vehicles is always very low.
I tried KBB offers on Ford Truck and my MB GLE. They were barely above 50% of market value.
Would you trade it for new Mercedes, that would make different story.

I put deposit on $70k Lucid, but so far they produce $170k models only and those sell like hot bread.
Meaning will they even start cheaper models production ???

I filed 2 claims for two cars (2012 ML350BT and 2015 GL350BT) as current owner and have received both checks for the full amount so I assume the previous owners did not file for them (both cars were bought used with at least 1-2 previous owners each). Per the instructions previous owners need to file the claim by somewhere around July 2021 and provide solid evidence to show ownership.

The law firm was mishandling the claims. I experienced that and per other reports, that was very common.
Not only ownership is required, but also proof of registration. I assumed that title is sufficient, yet after a year waiting I contact the law firm and finally Shelby informed me what this is about. Since I disposed last year registration slips, I provided proof of insurance and that was sufficient.
The office would not inform about it otherwise, so I assume they screw some people over that.
All 3 claims I filed - ended with full payments, so PO did not get anything. In my case all previous owners were corporate and I can imagine how employee is having no business to file a claim for company.

The first claim went smooth but for the second one, they sent me a letter after a year (I submitted the claim last year around May and received this letter last month) saying the document is insufficient and provided instructions on how to add document. Basically the missing document is the past registrations. Thankfully I have all the past registration documents since in PA we renew registration online and print the slip ourselves so I have copies of those in my computer. Forget the administrator. Email Shelby Smith at shelby@hbsslaw.com. This is the contact at the law firm and has helped a number of us with payments. In my case I was missing some paperwork and once I turned it over to Shelby it didn’t get lost and Shelby kept me appraised. Last email I had was a check should be cut and mailed before end of month. Not sure of the amount but anything above $0 is a plus. I no longer have the car but was still able to get the paperwork

Deer antler?

Did folks get their air intake pipe aka "deer antler" replaced as part of the "not-a-recall" (see pic)? I just replaced mine, but I kept the old one and might refit it before taking the car in.
