I've got my upgraded LED bulbs (had them for over a week!) so just need some time to fit them & take pics to make a fitting guide to post on here.

So I had a look over the weekend and used a small flat screwdriver to prise at each of the openings on the black surround, pulled at it a bit on each clip but for some reason it won't come away to allow me to get to the lights, seems to be catching on the inside of the boot lid above the numberplate and I don't want to scratch the paintwork off pulling at the surround.... will have another go in a few days when I have the time but for now I've abandoned it, if anyone has any idea how to remove the black surround then feel free to post it here!

Mine are LED already, (or appear to be), so, I'm not going to mess with it. It's my understanding you have to go into the trunk at the top rim... I always shy away from stuff that says "pry loose w/a screwdriver)... but I only have 1500 miles on the car... Good luck to you! M.

Guys,

Anyone knows whether the led license plate lamps from Racing Dash (RD) compactible to the 11 E350 Coupe?

I cannot find anyone from ebay selling and confirming the RD's fit to the coupe.

Anyone can recommend where to buy?

Thanks.

hey guys, i replaced my license plate bulbs a lil bit after i bought my car. you have to do it all from the trunk lid. there are some screws you have to take out and pull the lid liner to access the housing themselves, from which you can exchange the whole housing or change the bulbs. i wish i could give you guys some better instructions, but it was awhile back. it wasn't very difficult tho.

Which light bulbs you used? Any pictures? I assumed you were using the 5 SMD T10 Canbus. Any issues?

Did you break any snap-on clips on the trunk liners for this D.I.Y.?

This has been done before many times with instructions provided, mainly for W204's. Try using the search function for more examples...

Help!

I removed most of the pieces but I was stuck removing the black plastic trim around the lamp housings.

Could someone please tell me how to remove that plastic trim?

Thanks.

After struggling with the plastic trim, I finally managed to take it off. Just insert a tiny screwdriver into the slots between the silver trim on the trunk and pry out the plastic trim slowly one by one. The plastic trim will come off.

If you decide to change the whole housing like me, make sure you take off the license frame (if you have), so that you can lower the black plastic trim in order to remove the OEM light housings.

I don't have a chance to take some photos of the LED license lamps but I can tell you they are really bright.

Don't forget to order the plastic clips after the installation. You should order at least 10 clips in case if you want to convert back to OEM. I removed 3 clips behind the black plastic piece which had 4 torx screws and 1 on each side near the edge of the trunk (middle of the carpet lining). These 5 screws must be removed in order for you to pull down the trunk lining. The 4 clips at the bottom and the one attached on each side on the hinge of the trunk are not necessary.
