Winter rims + tires
I have a question I own a 2010 Mercedes E550 coupe, which sits on 18 in wheels, my question is if I could downsize to a smaller size for the winter ? maybe 17 ? and put on winter tites like pirelli sotozero or something ? what kind of rims would I need I try to look on ebay but I dont know what do buy ? Front and rear same size ? or rear wider ? Please help Thank You ,
Ps .. I would like black rims.

Most people with the e550 run 19" wheels as standard, but the car rides better on the 18"'s............
However, when these wear out I will replace with 245/40's all around instead as 235 in the rear is probably better in the snow but it is too weak on the dry / wet so need a better compromise...
I went with the Conti's because I have read nothing but negative reviews on Pirelli's and the only other brand I could find in the 235/255 stagger was Kumho.
I also wanted black wheels and had my stock OEM AMG 18's refinished to use for winter.

I am (re-)using my old 17" winter rims from C230 Coupe, since the rims and tires are still in good shape. It wasn't worth me buying new rims/tires for winter wear. If/when I upgrade the stock 18" rims to 19", I will re-use the stock 18's with new winter tires.
17's will fit - and the drive was surprisingly good actually.
On my other Rwd car I need to disable traction control and enable "snow mode" to effectively drive in the snow but this car is great. Just drive.
No regrets whatsoever. Very solid winter driving car.
