Seat handles - Chrome peeling off!
I wondered if anyone else with a coupe had experienced this issue and could give input...
On my coupe, the drive and passenger seats have a chrome covered 'handle' that is used to flip the seat forward allowing passengers to access the rear seats.
I've noticed that the chrome on these handles has started to peel significantly.
I will take this to the dealer and hope to get both handles replaced under warranty. The passenger side chrome peeled enough that it actually cut my skin - in a similar fashion to a paper cut. To be clear, this is not the exterior door handle or the interior door handle - see the attached picture for reference.
Anyone also having peeling rear access handles?
Thanks,
Rich

Can anyone point me to a thread that discusses common problems in 2011 E550 Coupes? My warranty is up in the next 6 months. Thanks

I think if the car is under the 3 year manufacturer's warranty then I think they cannot refuse it. Are you able to provide any details on the dealership that you went to.
I'm not impressed by the extended warranty from MB. It almost suggests that you are better off going to buy a 3rd party warranty and not MB.
So far under warranty or just free we have had the chrome trim replaced, the clip for the mesh thing by the passenger left foot, Command updated for Bluetooth audio, parking brake springs and clips replaced, seat track-because something fell into track and bent the whole thing while moving seat, differential seals were leaking so that was fixed, and the main battery. The battery was weird, dealer wanted a few hundred but a call in to Roadside Assist and they came out to the house and replaced and installed a new battery for free since it was under 4yr 50k.
I shall try another dealer as I thought the Hughes of Beaconsfield were good but looks like I stand corrected. I think most dealers treat their customers well unless the car was purchased from a non-MB dealer like mine.
The warranty I have is the MB extended warranty as I bought my car under 3 years old, cannot understand why they are not honouring..
A disappointing result as i thought it would have been done just as others have on the forum.

Just paint the handle. These are bad pics but i just used a rattle can of plastidip. Peel off the remaining chrome then paint the white plastic underneath (*** make sure the chrome is completely removed even on the back side of the handle.***) . After it dried the matte finish is smooth and looks completely stock. A few months of daily grabbing on the handle to access the back seat and the plastidip holds up great.
