Reliability question regarding 2012 E350 cabriolet
I just purchased a 2012 E350 cabriolet with 44K miles on it. The warranty has expired and I turned down an extended warranty through my credit union. I sold a 2006 280SLK to purchase it. I owned the SLK for 5.5 years and had very few issues.
I ran the VIN through 2 Mercedes dealerships and was told the car only had standard maintenance done. My friend has two older Es, a 2001 and 2008, and hasn't really had any major problems. What are the issues people are having with 2012s? Should I have gotten the extended warranty?
Thanks for any info.
also, you really cant compare your experience with a 2006 slk and a 2012 E cab. more tech, more gadgets, more electronics, more chances of stuff up. look at it this way, your manual window riser from the 80's will outlast your electric power windows today (maybe), but you get the idea.
but i would do all necessary maintenance on time (catch up if your car is behind) and i wouldnt worry too much.
now knock on wood...apart from the rear sam on my E coupe which dealer quoted/fixed south of AU$3000 iirc (under warranty), never had any major issue that i can remember. little things here and there but nothing major. some i even fix on my own.

main thing is, imo, you have one of the most beautifully shaped convertibles out atm. enjoy it!.
PS: and if you come across any problem, post it here or on the W212 section, sometimes it can get slow in here but members help when they can.
