The most annoying rattle in the world

Hello

please please help…. I’ve inherited a hideous rattle coming from the rear passenger side on the parcel shelf on my A238. Literally any uneven road surface (from Essex so that means everywhere 🤦🏼‍♂️) is when it’s worse.

I’ve been in the back and can’t pin point exactly where it is on that area.
there is next to no movement on the joins. I’ve had the roof partially open to look underneath and again seems to be nothing loose or out of place.

hoping for some help before I drive the thing off a cliff whilst I jump out 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 it’s that annoying 😂

Are you sure the rear seats are locked in place? I once pulled the lever in the trunk and caused one of the seats to be slightly loose. That may be worth checking.

yes bud I’ve pulled them both and shut them up with force then tryd to pull them and they don’t come forward.

it’s coming from the partial shelf area behind the head rest only on the passenger side

Can you provide a video of this noise?

I just reread the thread and remembered my A238 does something similar but the issue is the seat belt. It doesn't have enough tension on it so it rattles sometimes, especially with the top down. I pull the rear seat forward and stick the buckle in the trunk to hold it still. Without a video I can't say this is your problem, but worth a look.

I once had a noise that turned out to be coming from the loose 5-point harness on a child car seat in the back. Had to remember to click all ends in every time I drove.
