Help with boot separator on A238 cabrio. Button doesnt do anything.

Hi.

I have that little issue on my A238 cabrio. The separator button for the close and release of the boot separator doesnt do anything. I close and open the boot separator form the trunk manually. The button doesnt work.

This button:

In the diagnosis in a friend workshop, it shows only a error, DTC B181113 :

The output for the switch and controls illumination of the button 'Trunk partition' has a malfunction. There is an open circuit.

Is not a important fault, but i would like to fix it. In the manual of the car, says if the button doenst work, relase and close it manually....

- Is there a FUSE controlling the separator? I dont have the relay diagram specific of the A238 and i dont find it on internet. I suppose its the fuse.

- maybe the button itself or the cable.... Any ideas where to start? someone who had same problem?

Sorry about my language, im from spain.

The digram should be in the rear fuse box unless it was misplaced?

Yesterday in the evening i looked into de fuse case in the trunk.

There was the diagram of the fuses, untouched on the side of the fuse box. In the diagram, there was 4 fuses marked as "VARIO ROOF". There was no one of them specific of the separator.

I checked all four (and all of them, i had time, with a multimeter) and all the fuses were perfect, no one broken.

I realized that is not a fuse problem. Must be te separator itself or the cable.... it gets a bit harder to resolve...

Hmmm, I see. If it is the cable, then you might need to start removing some covers in the rear and see if the cable is pinched, frayed or disconnected.

I had a problem with the optional front lighted star logo not lighting. Looked at the fuse, looked good, but replaced it anyway. Bing, light worked. These micro breakers don't always "show" they are blown, so don't trust visual inspection. Test with another fuse or a multimeter. Not a for-sure solution, just saying don't trust visual-only inspection.

My issues resolved - the press button switch had minor corrosion inside where the tiny pins are. Cleaned and it works fine now. Also ordered a spare as the pins are so delicate I thought I might break them !

Good News!

How do yo access to the back pins of the button? Need to dismantle the inside of the boot door? Or simply extract the button from the outside with a screwdriver or similar?

Sorry about my por english.

just prise the button out with a screw driver - it's only clipped in. No need to remove any other parts.

the connector with the altered position of the cables.

Modded button to fit the connector in opposite way

works!

Finally, i got the problem solved.

I purchased the car on April and the button never worked. I removed the button, it seemed ok to me, but i ordered a new one on MB dealer in Valencia (spain).

The new button arrived, and it didnt work neither, no light, no work, then i investigate what the switch was doing and i found it simply make contact with 2 of the three pins.

In the cable, there are three cables, blue (+12v), yellow (+12v) and brown (return), but misteriously, the button switches the two 12v pins, qhat makes no sense for me. i make contact the brown with the yellow and the separator opens and close. Y modded the switch and change the pins order and now the button works, it lights and work. Its very weird, but someone in any way, has changed the pins of the connector who is attached to the button.

Anyway, now it works. happy ending. Thanks to all

Sorry about my english.

You're a genius - well done ! My connecter has a block connector so looks a little different - and it's inside this tiny block connector that I had the "corrosion" - so it was difficult to clean. Well done for figuring out the connections !
