common w124 Rattle?

- worn suspension bushings, especially the strut bushing at the top
- loose heat shields
- loose exhaust parts
- anything loose that has a washer would probably make the "baby tambourine" noise
The easiest way to hear your car while you're driving is to drive parallel to a wall or other solid object that will echo the sound back to you.
You could also go under your car with a rubber mallet and start tapping on things until you recreate the sound (probably won't work if the problem is suspension parts - but who knows)
Im at my wits end with that damn rattle.
if you just around the car and tighten every screw, nut and bolt you will find that will probably kill most rattles. of course some are going to be hard to get to, but do what you can.
the most annoying rattle in my is the cds in my cd case.

thanks for inquiring
i have been back at work for about the last two weeks. im getting better and stronger everyday. sneezing still feels like im getting chopped with a sharp axe, and i tend to sneeze in fits of three or four, so im tryin to stay away from dusty environments.
i went to rugby practise on thursday for the first time in about a month and some. i was able to run, but had lost a lot of fitness. as the evening went on and i got tired, the heavy breathing started to hurt. yup, heavy breathing was hurting.
im gettin better though.
word of advise for all. stay young (you recover quicker) and dont continue play rugby as you get older. even if you started playing 22 years ago like i did. its a very physical sport. it doesnt need to be said that you can get hurt.
that said, i should be in good enough shape to play when the season starts in january.

So I went out for a drive yesterday afternoon up to the mountains outside of town, and on this paved single lane forest road there were 3 cattle guards in the road (apprx 8 2.5" metal pipes layed perpendicular to the road such that cattle cant walk out of a fenced area). When I drove over these guards they of course vibrated my car for a brief second until I passed over them. Now, my rattle is gone if not 90% better!
So I guess if the Italian tune up is for engines, we could call this a cowboy suspension tune up/rattle eliminator?
.And the rattled seemed like it got worst. So I jumped under the car to see what I could.Nothing seems that worn that It would be making noise. So I grabbed a couple of sockets and went to work.I tightened everybolt I could reach. To my surprise the rattle was gone.
