Any info on these cars ?

I have had this picture with me for quite a while now. I dont know who these cars belong to, but they look absolutely stunning. I have a couple of questions regarding the cars, if anyone has any info on them, kindly share.

1) Is it a 500 E or something else and has it been modded it to look like a 500 E?

2) I love those headlights, what are they called and where I can find them, even if at dealers whats the part no. Will they fit a 1988 300E ? I want my 300E to look like that from the front.

3) Those rims are gorgeous, even the 190E EVO has them. Everyone has been telling me to go for AMG Monoblocks but I would love to get my hands on couple of those. What are they called and again where to find them ?

4) I see a couple of grill badges, what do they represent? One of them also looks like a Maple Leaf. Please tell me about all three of them and what they represent?

Thanks
Fezz

Answers:

1. They are both 500E's either a 1992 or 1993.

2. Those are 500E headlights made by Hella. Very pricey and hard to find these days.

3. Those are EVO wheels. You can find them on www.bekkers.com or search around on Ebay. Comes in various width in a 17" wheel.

4. One of the grill badges means it passed the 160KM or Mile odometer reading. You can pick one up from the dealership after you reach that certian milage. I don't know what the other two are though, sorry.

Hella Headlights eh? I have been looking for them on google since I read the post, but so far no luck. Does anyone know where I can buy them from?

Yeah I figured one of them was the high mileage award. Isnt it 250,000 km?

Found the rims on Bekkers, thanks for the info on that. I shall try and ask Wheels West in Canada to find me one and get me a good deal.

I'm pretty certain that those lights are NOT plug and play.

Regular 300E headlight configuration and 500E configuration are differ from one another.

note 500E/e500 have BOTTOM foglights, not next to our headlights like regular 300E/TEs do.

I could be wrong so look into it.

Yeah, the lights next to the main beams are driving lights, not fog lights.

The Hellas are five pin (like the DOT lamps) rather than six as with the Bosch Euros. The only way to order them (in the US) at this point is through Speed Autotiele of Germany.

The Evolution wheels can be purchased through Mercedes Dealerships and third parties like Mercedes Shop and BuyMBParts. They were used on a few cars including the Evo II and the E500 Limited Edition.

The Grill Badges are aftermarket flack that the owner picked up somewhere.

The Fog Lamp (H3 Bulb) is now a Driving Lamp (the beam isn't diffuse, it points straight ahead).

For most people a Fog is pretty useless. Also placing them that high up in the main lamp assembly means much more glare for other drivers. The C36/500E system is preferable, there they both sit in the front Aero a few inches above the road.

So in other words, like my headlights.

H1 lowbeam next to Grill, H4 highbeam/city lights next to corners.

Surprisingly, I dont blind other drivers in front of me so it makes sense...
