I saw this today. Is this possible in my car? I would pay for an all in one NAV system like the newer Mercs. Would it be worth the dash surgery?

If you know a shop that has the skills, go for it. Myself, I want to get a simple Becker HU. Fits the look of the car, plus I love the becker Mexico CD I have now...

The mexico cd? Im not sure the price, my dad got it for me as a gift of sorts.. The stock becker HU with tape-deck crapped out in my car so he got the mexico cd (benz OEM one no less) somewhere, parts @ dealership my guess. As for the becker HU, read up on them here

The cascade (under infotainment) is the ultimate, IMO, but I simply can not afford that. EVER. So, next up, Mexico pro or Grand Prix (under Car Hi-Fi). I plan to match to my rockford fosgates and some sort of sub/amp maybe, MAYBE. As for purchasing, Id suggest EBAY. Its rough to find, make sure world-wide search is on.

i like it... all you lose is the ashtray. i would prefer a flip out for security reasons, otherwise this is definitely an option.

I've already done something like this on my w124. It is a alpine 6.5" touch screen and covered in matching wood. I'll try and get some shots in soon.

hey sunman... how much did it cost you to fabricate that wood surround? parts/labor... and sending it off to get the wood color matched?

i basically want to do the same thing in my e-class...

I have a pioneer head unit, so I don't know if I want to change, (can you PM me the specs or a picture though?). I may just use my psp as the NAV when it is available in the states

Looking at the spacing, you would need a fiberglass mold for it. Car place may charge 300-400 to make the piece and install it for you. But theres definately space for it.
