Oh hey Chappy, as you cut your OE springs, how many coils did you cut off and how does it ride? I know these are progressive springs so I was concerned if it made the ride harsh or not?
I will get eibach springs for my 260E....but I don't want to drop the wagon that much...just a little to get it sitting nice.

Bouncy? Not at all. It drives similar to my 300CE with full OE sportline suspension.

I am an Engineer for a very large GC and I've been working on projects all over Alaska for the last two years. First, Petersburg in S.E.AK, then Hawaii for a month, then back to Anchorage, then to St.Paul Island in the Bearing Sea for a bit, and now back to Anchorage with the possibility of Fairbanks or Akun Island on the horizon.
I bought my Dodge(I really wanted a Diesel 4x4) before I headed up here and have been modding that for sometime, but god I miss my Kombi. My truck is a DaimlerChrysler child, so I don't feel that it is cheating on my goal to always and only own a Mercedes product.
I see some new members are on the list
From my pictures it seems as if I can't get away from snow...and today is no exception, it started snowing again and we got another 6in of snow

I may have a slow leak on my expansion tank. I find out it's a "Special version to eliminate gurgling in heater core" which is basically a nipple at the top for a small hose that runs back to a tee in the heater line. From where I checked these new tanks cost 4x ($120-130) the cost of a standard tank ($30)! There are two inner chambers so I'm wondering if I can use the standard tank and just tee off the overflow tank nipple...

Who knows why the Benz engineers made this version, it's either a real problem or they just had some spare time to kill. Seems like they had lots of time for some designs. It's only on my TE, haven't seen it on my other models...
I found some small cracks on the tank but will first see if the small leak was from the line to the overflow tank in the fender. The PO tried to clamp another hose over the original braided type but it was so hard it cracked when I disconnected it. I removed the right fender, cleaned up the pint or so of mud, and ran a clamped hose to the tank. If it leaks, I'll replace the tank. The fender overflow tank was in decent condition and I noticed the hook on top was actually an overflow outlet.

My Kombi
After all these years, I don't think I ever posted any pics of "Patty". Now that the 500E is in storage she's getting a lot of street time and I'm always amazed considering her age how well she carries herself on the (atrocious) streets of Atlanta.

I don't know...my wagon is under the weather...Right as I fix the tranny leak, I'm losing tons of oil down passenger side of the block. I think the head gasket has gone...only 10k since I replaced it
I've been giving all my attention to the 260E these past 6 months! I think the oil is the wagon's tears...I'm moving out of state to Arizona next month and unfortunately I can't take the wagon so she will be sitting under a cover at my dads house. It's a shame, but since the 260 has no leaks and everything but the sunroof fixed, it seems the smarter choice. I won't have a garage to do any major work, so that's why I cannot take the wagon.

Robert, have you read Dave's fix for a broken sunroof? I used it to tear apart probably 4 junkyard cars and ended up being able to tear down and repair one in less than 2 hours with the right parts. It turned out to be about a $50 fix with the correct sunroof lube from Rusty and used parts.
