FWIW: the majority of people contributing to this forum STRONGLY encourage MB tradition, quality and the use of the SEARCH feature...particularly to/for the newbies. I would say (from personal experience) that until you log 50 or so posts, and offer an intelligent point of view with proper grammar, you have very little street-cred here.

Most of the contributors are under 25, and a few of us are over 40, and that too probably has some bearing on how people will respond to suggested ideas for mods and the like. I think the "theme" is pretty consistant however: mods are to be tasteful as to properly enhance their Mercedes and keep it a Mercedes in the euro-style tradition...not turn it into a Civic, an Evo or a Mustang. While there is typically no right or wrong way to mod your own car, a newer contributor here should be sufficiently warned that if they ask for an opinion, they are surely going to get one...good, bad or ugly. I know I have received some less than ideal feedback from time-to-time. It kind of goes with the territory really.

New, fresher ideas do become somewhat accepted here (i.e. projector headlights) over time, but typically not until someone does them correctly and posts their results so that others can see (Zorro's car comes to mind). Besides, everybody is a cynic and sometimes a tough-guy on the internet, right?

Also, people are going to give you opinions here, however, when asking about neon lights which is a common stereotypical "boy racerish" or "JDM Ricer" mod the European enthusiasts here are going to jump on you because for the most part its a fad younger kids go through that just give you a tacky "look at me" stigma. Then again like mentioned above some people will do a tacky mod so tastefully that it looks good, thats what you want to aim for here. Also im sure if you went to a Japanese domestic import forum they could write you a dictionary on neon tube underlighting and light patterns, if you do go through with the project TASTEFULLY, take some nice pictures and post them here!

i mean hell, even the underbody light thread is trying to be usefull... wich i was in shock, but ya.

If you ask the right questions, and make it all look good in the end thats what matters. Just make sure it looks Good. and has a decent purpose.
