I believe that is just a filler panel, and should be able to come on and off with some degree of ease.

W124's
There is a Filler panel which goes on all 86-93 style W124s. You commonly see them on 1992-1993 W124's however. I don't have the part number on hand but I can get it for you. It's not that expensive.

As far as obtaining the 94-95 style trunk that is not possible.

Hey dude, I actually bought that filler panel on Ebay about a year ago. It's sitting in my parents' garage out in Woodinville. You will have to get it prepped and painted. It's currently black (either primer or topcoat, I don't remember). But PM me if you're interested. I'm too lazy to ever install it.

I paid $70 for it, some of which was for shipping. Since you're local I'd take $50. Lemme know!

BTW, keep in mind this will not exactly make your trunk look like a '94 '95. You will still have that rubber strip that runs across that lip on your trunk, and the filler panel fits in below that. So if you want it to all be body color back there, you'll have to have the body shop prep and paint that rubber strip to match as well.

One on EBAY now....good price...go get it !!!!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MERCE...spagenameZWDVW

Part number for " trim cover" ( filler plate ) is 124 750 03 37
you'll probably need the "trim cover rail " part number 124 750 00 11 which secures the bottom of the filler plate to the trunk.

Good luck on your bidding...

well what can I say? lol

As I've gotten married and become a homeowner, my priorities have shifted. Modding my car is now near the bottom of my priority list. So I was never gonna get around to painting and installing this thing. It's not worth a ton of money and Berti will give it a better home. lol

Life is interesting and a bit ironic....

I didn't have time for cars for about a twenty five year period....

Older you get the more time you make for things that make you feel good !!!

Where does it not mate up? There is no difference in shape/size between the prefacelifted models and the 94/95 on sedans. The only obvious difference is the back section.

I could see if we were talking about the sedan vs coupe/cabrio trunks as the sedan trunk is rounded and the CE trunk is flat at the left/right corners (see pics above).

Please explain this fitment issue.

I couldnt tell you the EXACT difference. But I can tell you with absolute certainty that if you bolt one on, it will not close. I believe they are just a bit larger in either direction.

What is the trim cover rail? Do you need this part or do you just need the filler part (124 750 03 37) and the screws to screw into the trunk license plate area?

You should have a narrow black trim strip on the lower edge of your trunk.
You need to remove this by gently prying off as it is held in by plastic pressure connectors that fit in holes in the trunk.

The trim rail replaces this and holds the lower edge of the filler plate to the trunk.

Try it first without this ( still removing te existing trim ) and secure it just with the license plate holder area screws.

If it looks good and you're happy, then so am I

I'm impressed that you remembered one of my posts from last year and more importantly my mod list...Anyway I have not installed it yet but I guess I was just looking for a more detailed answer on why it wouldn't fit before I prepped and painted it.

it's usually a good idea to test fit body pieces before you paint them... it will cost you $0 to test fit, then you'll know for sure, and will have a definitive answer for the rest of us, rather than everyone KNOWING it won't fit, but with no idea why!
