This is your motor mount on crack

Thought I would post some pics from the replacement of My motor mount. The whole thing was sunken into the housing about 1.25 inches. This was the cause of the bone rattling rough idle. I am surprised the thing held together
here ya go.

LMAO...love the subject line.;-) Good call on those mounts. I'm seeing the handwriting on the MB wall....you just start with what you can afford and cover ALL the essentials. However much fun this wagon was this summer on my big trip, I'm paying for it now in petty crap issues, in the dead of winter.

I did mine recently as well. I'd say no longer than 2hours. Jack up the car under the sump with some towels over the jack so not to dent the sump. Unbolt and lift... Only thing you should need to remove is the air assembly.

I did do this my self. I did it at the same time as the ider arm kit. Jack the car up as you normally would and leave it on the jack and put a jack stand on the frame (don't want to be a benzfloor sandwich) Remove the air box and crossover. Place a piece of 2x4 on a jack (largest that will fit) placed under the oil pan. Place it on the side of the engine in which the mount is being replaced and take it up to the pan. (I also had the exaust broken loose at the junction for the idler rebuild which actually made it easier but I wouldn't recomend it for just the motor mount as it is a bear to get into all those bolts without a lift.) At this point remove the bolts from the mount (there is also a small 10mm bolt holding the heat shield to the top of the mount that is hard to see). Slowly lift the engine until the mount clears the mount arm coming over from the block. I brought the mount out from the front but get it out how ever you can. The mounts have an allignment notch so make sure that is positioned correctly into the groove (to the outside) and start the lower bolt into the new mount but don't tighten it all the way. The line up the top bolt and start it. I then tightened the lower bolt all the way and slowly let the engine back down off the jack and tightened the top. Replace everything and your done. should take 1 -2 hours depending on tooling and experience.

So pretty much just a floorjack and a socket set? I plan on doing this as soon as they come in the mail.

What's the height of your new mount? I just removed one that I think was replaced with the motor before I purchased the car and want to determine if I should save it.

I didn't measure mine so I am not sure but the thing to look for is the different tiers of the bushing. Just compare to pics and it will be pretty clear. For $45.00 it's not so bad to just get a new one.

Yep you got it. Just it is good to have two floor jacks one for the car, One for the engine. I guess you could just use jack stands but I like the extra point of contact.
