Fixed my odometer woo! Found interesting thing too

Pulled apart my odometer today for the 260E...

...but for some reason I didn't find anything wrong
Took it all apart, but all the cogs turned fine. I even used a electric screwdriver to turn the speedometer and the numbers started turning.

Weird?

I did find something interesting though on the back of the faceplate.

75,000 miles back in 2002! Wow! I know it failed the smog in 2005, so looks like its current mileage has gotta be within a few thousand miles.
Anybody able to decode what that text is? "F the bar?" maybe? Or is that F an arrow pointing? Just interested

Where am I finding these low mile W124's?

It could be: "Fix the bar".

Taken into a account that w124 odometers fail when the gear slips with bar It could mean that I say.

To check if gear slips you must take out de PVC part containing the disks with the number (4 screws). Then roll the free gear that is at one end (next to 10000 mile) and try to slow down the gear that is in the other end (next to 1 mile disk). You can do this with your fingers carefully. This two gears must roll the same exactily amount. If you realised that it's easy to brake the last gear whereas the other rolls you must repair the odometer.

To repair you must "fix the gear to the bar" (the gear which is closer to 1 mile disk) for example, you can glue.

Ah yes I only looked at the PVC gear...
If it doesn't work when I test it out in the car, I will check that gear next. It seemed to turn fine though...but we will see with time if it fails.

Thanks for the info!

I yanked mine out this week to take a look also. Wasn't the plastic gear, its the pot metal gear on the other side that is loose on the shaft. Not sure how to fix it though. I did take the intermediate gear inbetween the odometer and the trip meter out to eliviate load and the odometer is tracking now, but now I have know trip. I need to pull it out again adjust my speedo, I'm running 20km fast and might try glueing the gear, doubt it'll work.
