When it comes to bulbs, don't go mtec and just choose a bulb without any of that blue tint to the glass which only makes the color "whiter" and lowers the amount of lumens being projects aka, less light output. Look into the basic osram or sylverstar bulbs

I think the chrome will look okay as long as it is flush against the bumper and the chrome is in good condition

The yellow ones from Germany should ( better ) fit as I ordered a set from the seller !!!

The other Bosch from Hong Kong.....Check the size..
I thought they were 7" wide...
The opening is around 5"...

My dad owns a plastic welder, so I think I am going to give a shot at repairing it myself. Just doing a lot of reading on how it can be done good.

Jealous ... i am soooo jealous. I really was that kit for my car. For now i suppose I need a new paint job more than a body kit.

Got the fog lights today from the EBAY German seller..
They appear to be the correct AMG units for France ( yellow lens )
Lights are Bosch with glass yellow lenses and plastic sideplates.
Haven't fitted them yet, but they are small...5.75" x 3.25" approx.

You don't happen to have any links to aftermarket ones that will fit?
I registered on the 500ectacy forum, but it won't let me post for some reason

Socalcarbon (albert?) said he was using bmw 740 fog lights, but I can't seem to figure out which year or model are going to fit

Sorry if this is a silly question -- but you have a Gen I, not a II, right? My measurements are pretty close to yours.

EDIT: Now that I look back at the AMG ones posted at beginning of the thread, it states they are 145mm x 86mm. The width would work, but they are too tall (22mm too tall to be exact).

I have a GEN I..
AMG foglights I just received from Germany are 145MM x 82MM with a 16mm per side seperate filler plate.
Lights use a standard H3 55W.

What does your opening measure at the top face?

What I find interesting is that your GEN I has what appears to be GEN II shaped fog/driving light openings.
The GEN I is rectangular with a few variants on the overall configuration of the bumper.
AMG Part number on the GEN I bumper should be HWA-124-880-05-40 and the lights are HWA-201-820-01-56 ( shared with the W201 190E. ) Rectangular so same part number for right/left.

The GEN II bumper is HWA-124-885-01-25 with lights HWA-140-820-07-56 (left) and HWA-140-820-08-56 (right) This were shared with the W140 S-Class.

Early AMG brochure

Actual AMG bumper that is part of the only known C124 widebody kit in existence !

Extreme Dimensions GEN I replica that I am using ( lower half only...bonded to the OEM top half for structural mounting purposes. )

Are your impact strips molded to the bumper or are they the seperate OEM type that screws to the bumper?

Hard to tell..your pix look molded, authentic AMG uses OEM impact strip as seen in my picture of the actually C124 WB kit.
Early AMG logo is usually embossed as shown

They are not molded. I plan to remove them for painting.

I'll post a picture of the AMG part # later today.

Thanks

RBYCC Is the original AMG not made of PU? You are going to cut apart a better quality bumper for a fibreglass replica that will get obliterated on the first driveway?

Clearly I am not following here! LOL

Looks like my part # matches up to what you said:

Not sure why I do not have the AMG logo on the bottom...I looked for any filler signs, but I don't see anything at all.

Just as an FYI but the C36 fog lights are also the same as the AMG Gen II fog lights.

AMG parts are always a learning experience.
Early parts had some variation in design.
Your lamp opening is not rectangular, but angled to the outside.

The one I pictured from the original C124 widebody kit that came out of Duncan Hamilton's dealership stock in the U.K. bears the same part number, but yet has some differences.

The 1986 GEN I in the brochure is completely different.

Pre face lift, regardless of design variation is called GEN I and uses the small rectangular lights in the bumper.

Face lift is always GEN II and uses a light that is angular to the outside...

I don't have the original AMG GEN I bumper.
The Extreme Dimension is as close as you can get to the real one as it accepts the OEM impact strips.
Rear was fine, but the area cast into the front was slightly narrow in the area of the license holder.
The stock impact strip bulged when installed on the ED part.

What was cut was the lower part of the ED bumper, that houses the lights and has the spoiler.
This is bonded to the OEM bumper right below the impact strip line.
The mounts are on the upper part of the OEM bumper along with the impact absorber block in back of the bumper..

Pix show the bond using a two part urethane adhesive and the rough fit to the car.
The ED fiberglass isn't rigid, great quality and has a bit of a flex.
Not low enough to have problems anywher around where I live....speed bumps excluded in parking lots..

P.S....
Missed the coupe so much that I'm taking delivery this week of a CPO 2008 Black CLK63 AMG Black Series...

So, would you recommend the Extreme Dimension kit overall Ed? I've lost my front spoiler ages ago and am in the process of deciding what kit to go with to finalize the look of my car.

Also, you now own another of my all-time dream cars. The CLK63 Black and the 190e Evo II are in my Top 5.

Top Gear's impressions of the CLK63 AMG Black.

So, when we meet up this summer to race Ed, may I see the Black?

Thanks RBYCC. Interesting how my Gen I has Gen II light housings...
I'll have to keep searching for the correct fog lights.

Are you sure? By the pictures I am looking at they are side mounted...

Your Gen I doesn't have Gen II mountings. The Gen II fogs are a bit curved too, your openings are not.

He doesn't have a GEN II shape/mount, but not a pure rectangular GEN I opening.
Notice how the outside edge angles up and out.

Probably still needs the small rectanguar lights
