Oh HAHA thats cute. But i dont have any homework.. I have TAKS testing this week so NO HOMEWORK =).

Seriously though look at this.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ovEuG...eature=related

All he has is an ECU TUNE and his car did 30-100 km/h in about 5 seconds. Will all 300E 2.8Ls do about 30-100 km/h (20-60 mph) in 5 seconds? because thats pretty fast i guess. Also he did 30-200 km/h (20-124 mph) in 29 seconds, just with an ECU TUNE!

Thats pretty fast, if my car were as fast as his then SCREW performance. That one is plenty fast.

Yeah no, that is a CIS car, so the "chip" doesn't do anything. CIS is pretty much mechanical fuel injection so that video is false, it looks like it is probably turbo'd. Stop worrying about speed, listen to what everyone says and get springs, shocks, wheels, etc. OR you could save for the headgasket, throttle body, wire harness, trans rebuild that you're going to need in the next few years :P Just how it is with 20 yr old cars. You can look on any other w124 forum if you like, you will get the same answers, you aren't the first to want faster. My solution was to get older and buy a faster car.

Take a defensive driving school offered by skip barber or your local track, I think thats what they meant. Fun and informative.

BUT if you have to have more speed, maybe a engine swap, how about a 12.9 Litre, might have to do some frame stiffening though.....

Dude..I don't have to pay for any problems the car has. Its my parents car until i graduate college, till then i am just driving it. Which means i don't pay for any problems the car has!

I am already buying lowering springs, custom susp., and rims. I said in one of my posts that i am going to spend my money on rims, lowering kit, etc. So all that stuff is taken care of, so exterior done, what do i get for performance?

I am looking for ways to gain performance, i already have ideas for the exterior, and enough money to buy them. These are extra upgrades that my dad will be paying for.
I'm just simply looking for ways to gain a little performance, not for a car that runs like a ferrari.

Can you guys not help me out on how to get like 20 HP???

haha I waited until page 5, couldn't help it.

As for my performance upgrades, weight reduction (spare tire and trunk floor removed, tank nearly empty) and driver skill. Also, magazine times for the 500e are usually in cars that do not have ASR defeat, so their tires are not warm.

Go to an independant shop, spend $1500 or so and have them custom build a nitrous system.

Oh that is so funny!

Zach better be careful in Texas - Gerry Van Zandt is prowling the backroads in his black nitrous MB. He has no patience for fools.

Lmao i liked the video...

Honestly though. What are the best lowering springs i can get? I know H&R's drop it more, but i read they are a rougher ride.
Right now i am mostly interested in the Eibachs..How are those? And then what shocks should i get with the Eibach's?

I have eibachs on my e34 and the h&r on my 500e far more comfortable. Incomparably so.

Just to clarify, you are saying the H&R are far more comfortable, right? Could it be due to the nature of the shocks on the 500e and its nice gas accumulators?

I was thinking that as I typed, and it very well could be. Also, sorry for the lack of clarity, my phone sometimes "corrects" what I type, making me look like a douche.

No worries man, I didn't mean to be an *** but I was honestly not 100% clear on what you were saying.

I know that back when my dad's accumulators were working the 500e drove really smoothly yet firm. Now the rear accumulators are shot and it really sounds quite horrible even over short bumps.

Just curious..does anyone know any cars that are a good race for the 300E with the M104 2.8L?
The other day on the highway i ran side-by-side with a lexus is250 all the way up to 115 MPH.

So i was just wondering what other cars are good "competition" for my car?

Just for the Record:
I think my car loved the 115MPH run. After i stopped racing and got back on the feeder, i swear the car was running better than ever.
I don't know why, but finally it was maintaining a temperature between 80 and 90 degrees celcius, and it was much more responsive than usuall =)

These cars tend to be happy at 65mph and above. Anything under that and nearly every Honda can destroy it.

At the very least, they like to have their RPM at 3k and above. I have to launch my 300CE at like 2800 to keep traction and keep the car in it's power band to keep up with E36 M3's and a 500E or two. I have a 5 speed in my car so naturally I would destroy your puny 2.8 slushbox.

Well ofcourse your car would destroy mine cause you have a CE and you've got the 5 speed which just adds to the advantage =(.

And idk so much about 65+..my car moves pretty well between 25-40 in 1st gear and 55-70 in 2nd gear. But straight off the line any 4 cylinder honda would wreck my 300E. My car already runs like **** off the line for some reason (even worse than it should be).

But racing off the line is over rated, i rarely race anyone from a line start, its usually a 20-25 mph roll (which is a nice downshift into 1st gear).

The other day i raced a 6 cylinder edition of the VW GLI which is about a 6.9s 0-60, and by the time i would hit 60 he would only be like 40-50 ft ahead of me. Not bad for how slow stock 300E's are 0-60.
And i would be slowly catching him by the time i hit 50 MPH or so.
I then tried to race the GLI on the highway and he didn't go at it, but i was ready to pull on the little piece of junk

that's pretty much where the power band is.

your car is only super slow off the line because it starts off in 2nd. when you dip the gas it takes a little for the trans to figure out what's going on before it downshifts into 1st. it's almost like it asking you, "are you sure?.. you are?" ok" and then it goes.

5 speed is win.

Well my car is the 1993, so im pretty sure it already has the first gear start. It just holds the revs low until it starts getting up there in speed.
I'm not too sure about the 1st gear start correct me if im wrong, but didnt they get rid of the 2nd gear start after like 1990 or something?

Wow, congrats, somebody knows the true reason as to why the w124 is slow off the start. It is definitely because it starts off in second gear.glad to see that someone knows what they are talking about.

with the car at a stop, if you select 2nd, then put the stick back to 'd', the car will start in first
