unfortunelly i have thae same problem with my ce, when i had it to the painter shop they broke it so now i'm using a metal hook to open my hood.
i checked all the mercedeses they have in the blue island junk yard couple of times and none of them had it.
seems like its kinda needed

Geoss you got a PM. It would be sad to see a 500E ripped apart. I would love to restore it to its glory days as I am looking for a 500E as a project.

try the north ave u pull it yard... they're cheaper and a lot more friendly then the blue island yard
and just out of the blue here, looking at your car reminded me of something... i think i saw you sometime earlier in the year (beginning of summer) with this car going south on 90/94 in wisconsin i was right next to you in my coupe for a few minutes... if not then oh well, i could swear it was your car though

i know it is far , and they might be rude, but the thing is they have more cars than the north ave. i foubd a lot of good parts at that one , even a 94 320e, that's what i got my trunk from.
and yes, i remember you . it was you and a girl in the car and you exited at rte 12, from i 90. of course i remember. there's so few ce you remeber everithing about it.

in all honesty the car doesnt look like it has much damage, but being that it's by far the ugliest color combo 500E i vote you strip it or change the color

I was seriously tempted to bid on it but the nearest DMV inspection station for me is 140 miles away.... long way to flatbed a car... Once again, good luck and keep us posted on progress...

Don't change the color! I thought about doing that when I first got my 500e. After a couple weeks, the uniqueness of it started to grab me. Now I really can't imagine a better looking color. Do your drop, pick your wheels, and if the color doesn't grow on you after keeping it clean and driving it for a few months, do what you want. I can garuantee the smoke silver you have now will turn a lot more heads.
