NEW WEBSITE - COUPE & CABS PICTURES
In between assignments (and when I should be doing my tax return) I fiddled with an idea I have had for awhile.
I love this and another forum - given me hours and hours of fun and pleasure and a re-assuring resource for ailments that partaken my car on the odd occasion.
However, the picture threads unfortunately end up being full of well wishers and banter (yes I have done it too) and unfortunately rather than being the sedate viewing experience of other's fine automobiles, it becomes a "seek and find" mission racing past aimless meanderings.
SO I decided to dedicate a website to pet loves, the W124 Coupe and Cabriolet.
Now I stress this is pretty much what it will be as a finished product BUT not all the images on the right hand side lead to vehicle photo's. Sorting and re-sizing and generating the code is long winded. But I wanted some feedback and to share what I have done thus far.
So PLEASE - I know what is missing no need to send me or enter a message !
At this point there is only the first 2 lines of Cabriolet pictures available I have more to do.
The links to the two forums work as do the navigation buttons at the bottom.
The last naigation 2 buttons though go to blank pages at this stage.
These I am thinking of posting relevant information or downloads for the Coupe or Cab as appropriate.
But here you can guide me - what do you think would be good to include ?
Having said all that here is the link.......
Coupes 'n Cabs
Oh and if response is good I am thinking of doing a similar one for you Sedan and Wagon boys as a separate project !

Neat idea, but my sedan feels segregated against.. Smells like revolution...
On that note, I think it'd be a really cool collection to have the sedans/wagons organized similarly on the left side. And scrolling to the sides as it overflows, keeping the big pic in the middle.
Anyhow, VIVA LA REVOLUCION!
It only loads images in the main area if you select that small image on the right.
Also by making it bigger it also becomes a much larger executable file and takes longer to load.
But will see what I can do
You say it's built for speed but I find it really slow in terms of loading for such small pictures. People don't spend time on sites that are unappealing to them visually, unless it's a work site they have to be on. I build sites so I appreciate the effort etc but it just looks super 2002.
This is just constructive criticism, not at all trying to deter or insult you.

The load time varies depending on "net speeds" of course but I did a comparison against straight html where image size would be less restricted to being contained inside a "movie container" and the compiled flash option loaded heaps quicker than images called through html.
Honestly I did this for fun more than anything - I am not creating a site with a view to attracting sponsors or funds etc.
I love looking at piccies of nice cars but I find the frums laborious because of the chit chat associated with every post.
If we could do away with the in between comments and just have a flowing images I would have been happy with that alone. But that's not going to happen so I figured well I stored all these on my system and rarely go look at them. By putting them into a website format I can go look and choose which one's I want to see.
This flash composition is a template file developed years ago (your correct in that respect) and works very well (IMO) for presenting a collection of images as opposed to having interactive pages or stacks of information.
I modified the template from it's original form as he had bogged it down with heaps of unnecessary whizz bang actions and changed a lot of things around to suit my needs. If I had time I could have created a site from new but this was really a fill in as I detest working on tax returns and trying to hide from the fact it needs doing !
I am not a professional website designer, a hobbyist at best having done a few sites for small business and some golf clubs. Modern website tools with CM look great but honestly the learning curve is something I do not have time for either.
Anyways appreciate your comments Zorro - have been trying to get some good shots of your car but they seem to be spread all over the place.

As for pics of mine, yeah I did delete a lot of them when I switched methods of pic hosting but I still have 'em all on my computers. Haha GET TO YOUR TAXES!!
