Clear corners much clearer than Euro Headlight lens

...........I have Euro headlights on my W124. I recently changed the coner lights to clears. The clear corner lights are much clearer than the Euro headlight lens and makes the glass of the Euro hreadlights appear quite dull. My Euro headlights were purchased from Bekkers.com and it is made by Bosch. Are there other Euro headlights made by other companies that have a clear lens?

There are 2 kinds of euro lights for the W124. Bosch and Hella, in addition to a couple or japaneese or Taiwan made lights.
The Bosch you have are the top of the line. You will not find any brighter lights.

..............Thank you for your response. I am not really looking for brighter headlights. I am looking for a cleare headlight cover to match the clear corner lens. As it stands now, the lens in my corner lights and that in my headlights are of different shades. Do you know what Japanese companies makes these lights so I can see if their lenses are clearer.

The only Japanese part that should be on a Mercedes is the A/C compressor (Nippondenso).

This is a common problem that the clear corners appear brighter than the headlights, even more so if they are some years old, and start having punctures from the gravel/Sand on the road. The reason therefore is, that real clear headlights only come with the latest Xenon lights, and the "greyish" appearence of the standard Euros is the grey plastic inside the housing, where as the corners are "chromecolored" inside

I know what you mean! This was the FIRST thing I noticed upon changing to (Hella) clear corners. I think what really would help would be to do the "chrome tape mod" (makes you headlights look like 500e's) to the Euro headlight housings. The leading edges of the housings are grey thus they look dull in comparison to the clear corners which have nothing but shiny material behind the lense. I'll dig up the thread on Mercedesshop.com -

if you are careful, you can probably use a very fine sandpaper and wet sand the headlight lenses so be a little more uniform and less cloudy. then, if you aply the same technique to the corner lenses you bought, you should have a more consistent look.

cloudy headlamps are a problem on Ford Contours are well and there is a good "how-to" on our web site: http://www.contour.org

good luck!

what brand clear corners do you have? Those might be the problem. Hella clear corners are darker than bosch ones. I have part numbers for both if you need. I just got back from Germany and I brought a set of each. The US bulb will screw right into them, but watch out, they are very brittle compaired to the US signals. I dont know, everything over here is meant to be hit, just look at the bumpers of the 123 euro vs 123 us spec.

Anyway...Let us know.

try the smoked variety

I know I’ve seen "smoked corners" that are darker. My friend at work has been considering the smoked variety to avoid the situation that you are facing.
