AMGfan Daily Driver Project
I have the wheels...now I need the car. In the process of getting an old school daily driver. Its an MBWorlder's project car and it's going through a PPI on Friday.
The car is money and reminds me of younger days...love it. I won't post pics of it until money has changed hands but the PPI is pretty much a formality. The owner is a fellow Rennlister and similarly **** about our cars.
Once I get it here, It'll get some AMGfan love...not much change to the exterior because he did a great job...just these rims either all polished or color match centers.
The interior is pretty mint but I want to make a color change in leather and wood trim. Plus some softer leather is going in...

I got lucky...I could not find any here that were up for sale now. I did google searches but they were from months to years ago. The one that was recently posted back in Feb 2013 on here as a matter of fact look tore up with a lot of curb rash...plus he wanted too much for them in that condition.
I ended up finding a set on Ebay UK...I was actually referred by someone here who also has the OZ 3 piece and he sourced them from the UK also albeit from a different source.
The seller has a great seller record and I just knew I wanted them for the car. So did the WTF and took the leap. Biggest obstacle was shipping...If I arranged shipping from the US it would have cost me $800-$1000...a wheel. So going through him and DHL UK, the shipping was around 600 pounds which I jumped at...
They shipped on Monday and I got them today.
Very happy with their condition...the tires are in almost mint shape too.

Excellent find man, and good luck. That is a hell of a price for shipping. It is a nightmare finding some hard-to-find w124 parts when they're overseas for cheap.

Finally getting delivered...transport set for Aug 1. I should get in house the following week. Then it'll get in line for interior "resto-mod" after the SL65 wide body leaves the upholsterer's shop. In the meantime, the AMG/OZ 17"s will get fitted...we will see how the y sit and play with fitment and stance accordingly. I won't slam it because I'm not into Eurostance look but I will try to get as mean a look as possible without being ridiculous.
These are the pre-transport pics I requested (there are about 70 more) so that the seller (bluecoupe) and myself are on same page just in case the transport company muck it up...I doubt it since they are reputable but I've been through a couple of transports and you can never assume anything.

Overall depth about the same but the stock profile rolls in where the AMG goes straight down and can scrape if not careful on inclines and speed bumps.

Hey guys...replacing rotors and pads on the car. Any recommendations...Nick has mentioned ATE products which will be my first choice but I'm open to other recommendations. Keeping in mind that the 17" AMG/OZ wheels are going on and "seeing" the rotors are not a big issue since the wheels will be blocking most of the brake setup.

I run the stock diameter aftermarket Zimmerman cross drilled rotor with Textar pads.
The drilling is done at casting time at the factory and negates potential cracking.
Excellent quality and very cost effective.

Thx guys for the input...well money has changed hands and car is set to leave Friday. I can't believe how excited I am about this car...reminds me of my wait for the 993tt.
I must be getting old... The anticipation for an 18yr old car to sit next to my 16yr air cooled classic is bonkers to me.

Im sticking to the 6cyl with the twin turbo setup...so not sure if that affects your recommendation.
PS. Ed...Nick told me that the car has an Eisennman exhaust setup.
