Adding an intercooler to my 87 300TD Wagon.

Can someone tell me what this part number is called in laymans terms:
603 098 15 07

It is the connection part between the turbo and the intake manifold.
The car in question is a 1987 300 TD Wagon.

Reason:
I am attempting to add an intercooler to the system and I need to get another one of these parts to cut and began the modifications.

I am too scared to remove mine to make a mold or try to modify it. I already have the purchased an intercooler and figured out where I want to install it.
Installation:
Gonna be in front of the passenger front wheel inside of the bumper. It fits well, but running the plumbing will be difficult.

If someone can identify the part number mentioned above and maybe a company to purchase it from I would be very appreciative.

I would call that piece in laymans terms a "compressor out pipe" or "intake manifold pipe" or maybe a crossover pipe. Im not sure what mercedes would call it. Try calling a MB dealer and give them the part number and they should be able to tell you exactly what its called.

Please keep us posted on your progress with the intercooler install.

called the local dealer and...

They did not have a name for the part only a named description..."Air Charging Unit" part price 312 bucks USD....

Man this is not going to be easy...I used to enjoy going to some of the local salvage yards and trying to imagine what happened to specific vehilces that were mangeled while looking for the parts car I was after. But these days I have neither the time or the desire to trudge threw mud while trying to get to the back of the salvage yard where the vehilce I am looking for is located.

But I want to do this so i will hit the salvage yards asap...

Thanks guys

Mike

Dude

You have a trap oxidizer still in your car!

Go to a mercedes dealership and get it replaced, almost your whole exhaust system, and perhaps even your turbo.
If they check your turbo boost and it is below 9psi or something, then they have to replace it.

Once you get that done you may not want to do this intercooler thing anymore.
It really helped out my car.
I think it adds 5 hp or so, but it may make a more noticible difference than that, seeing as you are getting so many new parts.

no image yet....

Anyways, if you have that football looking thing just above, on the left side of the thing you circled in red, then you need to go get it replaced, free of charge.

If you have a less bulbous looking pipe, with insulation-looking stuff wrapped around it, then the recall has already been done to your car.

A new turbo, and exhaust system is a beautiful thing when it's free.

I know this is an old post, but does anyone know if the recal is still in effect? I recently bought an 87 300 td wagon and it has a football looking ox trap just like the one pictured.
