what does the taxi button do? anyone? I know it was a feature for the 210 mainly, so anyone with it or know anything about it?

Never heard of a Taxi Button. Had a 210 for 5 years. Maybe yours was a cab!!

maybe it's for calling a cab while your car takes extended visits to the car spa (mechanic)

It is not a feature for the W210 mainly, it is available for the W202, W203, W210, W211, etc.

It turns on the taxi sign ("available"). Have you ever taken a taxi? There's a sign showing if it is occupied or not.

"TAXI" is a well-known German term for "EJECTION SEAT".
The repeated costs of seat replacment and headliner repair make it a fairly uncommon option these days.
