new to the board...i need help picking a w210 E class.
hey...im 21 and in Los Angeles, California...
its time for me to grow up and my car needs to grow up too.
i've been looking at two E Class w210 MBz
1: 99 White E320 w/75k miles on it.
or
2: 98 Maroon(burgundy?) E430 sport w/87k miles on it.
both are roughly the same price.
can you guys give me some of the pros and cons of each?
i know a bit about each like the 320 is a v6 and the 430 is a v8....
thanks a whole lot...
no matter what i will be buying one of these two cars in august so you'll see me post a whole lot here.

IMHO, if they were equally "in good shape", I would go with the E430 sport. I bought my first W210 a little over a year ago. I have a 97 E420. The V8 power is well worth having. With the Sport model, you get the AMG body kit and I think a slightly tighter suspension set-up. One of the things that I wish I had is the body kit.
If you can afford a 2000 or newer, there are some nice additions to all of the models. They all have color coded lower body panels (so does the 98 sport) and they also have steering wheel controls for the stereo.
Good luck.

they have no body damage...perfect leather...
only diff between the two is 12k miles.
is that even a difference?
how much are tune ups for v8s and v6s?
any big problems with the cars?

I've never regretted getting the V6.
we have 3 in the family. 99, 99, 2k
p.s. consider going over to All-Data and checking the TSBs and recalls.
maybe that will help you split the tie, insofar as potential problems

The price on the V8 is probably less because of the color. White is more popular than Maroon so the resale value may be lower on the Maroon one because of that. The V8 has 50 more HP but less economy. It comes down to what you want out of the car. I don't think that you would regret either one but the 99 is newer and has less miles with a more popular color.

'04 Silverado Z71 - sold all my Benzes and need another!
Either way they both sound great. I prefer the V8 and love the power and sound that is has. As for the miles, don't worry because 12k miles difference is really nothing for a Benz. I sold mine with just about 140k miles on the ticker and it ran better than new. I would also like to say that unless you like the car stock or are going to add any body kits, I would stick with the sport model as well. Already has the AMG body kit and 17" wheels including suspension so it depends on what you're plans with it are. Also as E-Klasse mentioned, the color! There are quite a few white E's around but not too many Maroon ones. Wanna be a bit different? Good luck mang!

Also, the white might be a better base color for tuning (if you are into that). I haven't seen many tricked out maroon cars. In my experience, the popular sports car colors are silver, black, red and white.
Just my 2 cents.

And I'd like to echo the thougts on gas mileage. I used to have a Audi A6 4.2L V8. I had a 7 mile commute and I put like $200/month in that thing for gas last summer.
I take public transportation now, so I can't offer any valid monthly gas cost figures. I fill up like once a month now, maybe.
