Cool Finally, 18's, H&R, and Bilsteins installed !

I may be the first modded E300 , lol. Just got this done today and thought i'd share with you guys. I was so nervous before doing this that the ride would be too harsh but i'm really pleased, its firmed up a good bit, but still comfortable, and I can't believe how much better it corners. The 'ol soot cloud blower was turning some heads today =]
18" amg monoblock 2's
H&R Sport Springs
Bilstein Sport Shocks

Picture uploading is down right now so i'll have to make a few posts..

Lightman

Looks awsome!! How much did the whole setup cost you? What other mods are you going to do besides the wheels and suspension? Just curious.

Thanks!

Thanks for the compliments guys! I did a little price shopping and felt like I got a pretty good deal. This was the cost breakdown..
18"AMG Monoblock II's and Toyo Proxess T1s - $2100
H&R Springs - $239
Bilstein Sports - $399
Install - $250 w/alignment! (Autoclass)

I can't believe how much better the car corners and handles now, its a night and day difference. I think I may go up one size in the front to a #2 pad though, it is riding so low in the front...

320, I have #2 rear and #1 pads in the front. I dont think the rear looks too high, I think the front looks too low. It's also a little too close for comfort as far as rubbing is concerned. I dont want to have to creep over speedbumps and curbs. I also dont want my car to look slammed to the ground, i.e. pimped out... But thanks for the compliment overall. I'm much happier with how the car looks now compared to before with the stock setup.

Hey Lightman, how much 'drop' is that? Looks like 2 or 3 inches from the pics. Low, low low!

It certainly does look low low low! Kev, I didn't do the measurements, but I did the H&R Sports/Bilstein sports, with a #2 pad rear and a #1 pad front....

I am almost convinced i'm going to go up one size to a #2 pad in the front. Here is a pic of the rear.

320, I dont think i'm going to do blinking side mirrors, mine is a '99 and I dont have the wiring there etc.

Gotta love AMG Monoblock wheels...
Looks good!
By the way, I noticed something else..did you tint your backup lamps? They look smoked rather than white.
I was thinking of smoking my rear tailights...like the ones on my 'stang...

Lightman,
The rear looks good, yeah you need to raised the front a little bit.

E420sport,
Lightman has the 00-02 E55 smoked taillights.I do have a used set(mint) but it doesn't include the ones on the truck.$100.Dealer sell this for $75 each.

Just fyi, the dealer charged me $240 in total parts for the tail light mods. There are 4 pieces. The side/body lights are a perfect replacement, just bolt right up(2 minutes). The trunk tail lights do NOT fit, and have to be modified to fit, either by grinding or shaving away plastic in the proper place to get it to slide in and look right. Its a pain in the butt honestly, but I think the smoked looks great against the white..

Lightman,
I think you need to put #3 spring pad on the front cuz there is only small diff. between #1 and #2 pads.I don't know if you gonna get that lift with #2 pad.

unfortunately its not that ea$y to just switch them in and out or I'd try a variety of combos if I could. I just want to get a little extra margin for safety as far as rubbing goes, by going up to the #2 pad.

I'm with ya on the tail lights, its a benz not a pinto, don't take the cheap route and spray paint your tail lights , lol.

That's what i'm telling you there's is only a small difference between #1 and 2 you might see no difference.Give your car a week once they settle down it will lower more.
