Realistic Pricing for my E 430?

I have an exceptional car I'm "thinking about" selling.
It's a 2002 E430 (v-8) with the following options:
-Sport Package
-Heated Seats
-Rear Shade
-Bose with CD Changer and XM radio
-Sunroof
-Headlight washers
-Xenon headlights
-Silver with Black Leather
-Several coats of Zaino Polish
-new tires (general hp's)
-new brakes including cross drilled rotors
-always garaged
-only 33,000 miles (20k in the last 12 months)
This is very likely the nicest W210 in the country. The book pricing shows high retail in the mid 20"s but as I mentioned, this car is in perfect condition and maintained at the highest levels. I would only part with this car to someone that can appreciate the value in such a prestine automobile.
Your feedback is appreciated.

Thanks!

Sounds

Real nice, however I think your cost basis is way off, based on the current market you must be using kbb or nada.Taking into account recent sales, even a mint low mile 02 430 sold by a private party, will bring in mid 18's if you are lucky and find the right buyer.N.Y. car maybe a little less due to the extra wear and tear the roads put on even a low mile car.
Price in line with the real market, and the car will move.

Thanks for the feedback, I just can't imagine parting with it for mid 18's. I'll drive it another 2 years.

The 2003 211's are starting to sell for low 30's to mid 20's. Not looking good for us 210 owners looking for a fair trade.

I know what you mean but I bought this car in June of 2006 with 9,000 on the clock. This one is the real deal, it came from Virginia no NYC street action on this baby. Maybe someone who loves the W210 would pay a premium but who knows. Anyway, cars depreciate some faster than others.

What kind of replacement you had in mine? I have a similar car, however do not want to sale it now, because I do not see a good replacement yet. I hope to get more info on W212 and then decide between W212 and XF. It will take two more years, so I'll keep E430 for that time.

sorry to bust your bubble but there's no way you're getting mid 20s for your car. dealer offered my coworker $21k for a 2003 E500 with 50k miles. you'd ***** your pants if you got a tradein quote from your dealer.

sounds like you are strongly attached to your car, and she does sound like a great car w/ very low mileage, you outta drive her into the ground. cuz current market value for our cars are disgustingly low

I've put so much work into my E 430 that I will most likely drive it until the wheels fall off. It's worth far more to me than the market would bear.

Lowered, Lorinser RS4 wheels, AMG brakes, new front bumper, rear deck lid spoiler, plus many parts replaced as preventive maintenance, etc.

I have it the way I like it, and don't think I'll get bored with the body style. Next car for me will be a Viper, and I'll keep this as my daily driver.

Agree with all the replies that your price is too high. I have been looking for a W210 so I have a sense how much a mint 2002 E430 would sell.

ohlord is right on the money that mid 18k is about all you can get if there is no sign of rust and have the spring perches done.

There are some 2003 W210 and W211 breaking below 20k now.

Funny you mentioned it. Take a look at this car (it is sold now)

http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...eadExists=true

The dealer cannot sell it for a long time and I looked at this. It finally sold to a small used car lot for $8k.

Many W210s are not selling. On cars.com and autotrader some of the listings are over 6 months old with several price reductions in my area.

I guess people are kind of scared with the spring perches, transmission, and electronics. And finally the killer, rust due to non-galvanized parts.

With all due respect, you're comparing apples and oranges. You're comparing my 430 sport to a 9 year old p.o.s. station wagon.
I understand my car is worth very little now so I'll keep it for another year or so and get some of my investment back.

I guess my point did not go across. I was referring to the fast depreciation of the W210's.

So the 1999 is a 9 year old POS wagon for $8 - 9 k. n those 9 years, that wagon has depreciated for about $45 - 50k.

Then your 2002 is a 6 year old car for $18k. You see, in another three years, yours will also be 9 years old.

Cars in excellent condition does demand a premium price but buyers always have to worry about insurance pay back, etc.

There is a 1997 E320 with 10k miles (yes, 10k miles) on cars.com but the seller wants $16k. No one is going to buy it.

First

The wagon from benz is not a pos, everyone that owns one loves it,everyone that drives in it remarks that it is even smoother then the sedan.Second, the reason that they don't sell and that is all model years older then about 04 is because people price with their wallets and not reality, you want 25grand because you just a few short years ago paid as Ben Franklin once said "paid to much for your whistle"Buy wiser next time and you won't be so shocked when it comes time to sell.Third,if ---"I'll keep it for another year or so and get some of my investment back."----this is your logic, that is what is upsetting you,Cars(with the exception of collector cars)are not an investment..........
Investments are "buy low, sell high"not the other way around!!

The fact that a stripped Hundai is more expensive than my car is depressing, but I'd still rather have my car.

Amen, I agree with you, I made the mistake of paying too much for an "as new" E430 and didn't think about the depreciation when I would resell it. I was planning on a new C class but not until I can accept the fact that I over paid on my E and I'll lose my *** on the resale. This is what happens when I buy a car with emotion and not my head. Oh well, maybe I'll learn next time. Thanks for the feedback guys!

I don't know if you notice, but the used (luxury) car market is very depressing. For mid to high 20s here (SoCal), you can easily get a 2002 E55 with decent mileage, or 2003 W211 (E320/E500), in good to very good condition.

Now aday, I simply buy a 2-3 years old cars, and drive a crap out of it, w/ full intention of getting all my money out of the mileage I put in the car, not in resell value.

I could see you possibly getting as high as 19,500, or so, if you found the right buyer.

if u guys wanna sell your W210, better do it within the next 14 months or so. when the new W212 comes out, W210s will be worth a bag of toilet paper then.

Great

More of them on the market, low miles,we know how to work on them, and they are nicer looking then the sloop nosed 08!
I might even buy one to gut it and put in a 800 horse power bracket motor,so I can have a chance at beating tommygunn at the 1/4 mile.
