Expensive to ride a W210 MB E320 4M?
I went to the MB dealer and ask for used car, like W210 E320 4M, the seler told me that it cost 2000 to 3000$ /year in repair.

Shop
properly, inspect the car with due diligence, and check service history.Plenty of low mile excellent condition ones out on the market.Find one of those and aside from normal yearly maintenance, there is no reason to even contemplate that sum of money on repairs. If you have to spend 3000 bucks a year on repairs, either you don't know how to appraise a car, haven't had a qualified inspector do it,or just plain bought the first pretty one that fancied your eye.
Which is most often the case...

And once again, don't go to the dealer for a used car,you can find dozens of low mile great condition models that are not inflated in price far beyond what the reasonable market is for a 7-9 year old Mercedes.

I have had mine for a year now. I have only spent about $175 on maintenance. (i dont drive it much). $3k is far too much to spend each year. In a couple of years you will have spent the value of the car on repairs.

Amen
to that brother, these guys that budget in three g for repairs either bought the wrong car or never looked at it closely when they bought it,either way they paid to much for a hoopdie.

Since this is my "appliance" car, I finally looked under it on a rack this week. I did an oil change and found a bad lower left ball joint (I started to hear it on small bumps) for my first 7k of miles currently 52k miles.
My cost: oil: $7.50 x 9 qts ~ $70. oil filter = $14, lower ball joint (Moog) = $60. Total ~ $150. I have access to an alignment rack, so I do my own.
Dealer charge: Oil change? $100+? lower ball joint and align? ~ $300 (more if you do both sides). Total ~ $400+?
So, about 3-4 times the cost to pay someone else to do the work. Remember, shops need to make at least 70% margin on part cost (cost * 3.35) to stay open, so that's right on.
The bottom line is it's a modern car, but not too modern, so its costs will compare to most modern cars regardless of make. You can fix 90% of the car yourself with basic tools.

I have to disagree with what the dealer told you. I own a 99 E320 4 matic with aprox 119k miles on it owned it since it had 64k and no way close to the expenses that are being provided to you.
The only main problem with the Matic we have encountered is that the CV boots ( hope I got the part name right) is prove to cracking up but this is more like $200-$300. I have had it changed about 2-3 times since we have owned the car.
Also the 4 Matic is excellent in the snow we use to live up in NH and car was great....better than the Audi quattro I owned in the past.

2003 E320 4Matic Wagon & 1997 E320
The 4Matic does not really add any extra maintenance because nothing is really serviceable. However, if something does go wring, then the repair bill is pretty high due to irrationally high parts price. The transfer case, for example, retails over $4k, just for the part.

Your dealer wishes he can fund his boat payment on your back. The car cannot possibly cost that much to repair unless it had been wrecked.
Not including routine maint and mods I choose to do myself, cost is zero. Routine maint per year is around $300, and I have 112,000 miles.

I get 23-26 mpg on the highway. I have had no normal maintenance costs except oil and fluid changes since I bought my car.

Why?
A wagon in rwd or 4wd is a nice solution for many family's,extra space 84 cu.ft. plus performance. Why tell anyone it would be inappropriate?

He can find e320s for about 8-9k with no problem.
There was one e420 150k km black for 7 700$ over here. Pretty good looking.
It's sold though :P
