oem cd changer won't play CD-Rs???

oem cd changer won't play CD-Rs???
whenever i load a burned CD-R into the cd changer, it won't recognize it and say "NO MAGAZINE". just freezes up and won't even eject the magazine. wtf.. my hondas and friends' cars never have a problem!!

mine would freeze but if i press eject a few times, the magazine always comes out.
what did you do when you disassembled it? you must've done some tweaks.. i'd love to have my changer play cdr's..

no tweaks at all.
I had a normal CD stuck in there. I took the outer cover off, and snapped the trays back into position. Then reassembled. Mag works fine now, and it plays CDrs without a problem (for the past year). Maybe try a different brand of CD-rs. I use the white faced memorex.

How old is your car? i don't think these cd changers are meant to support cd-r's. atleast that's my take from it.
mine is an alpine, from 1997 the ones without the fiber optic connection. It sometimes plays cd-r's and sometimes won't it just a matter of luck. I haven't been able to get it to play any lately. I have an Ipod that I use in conjunction with the tape player though.
I would say that mine doesn't "fully" support CD-R's. It might be the brand of the CD-R you're using too.
If I wanted to play CD-R's that bad I would replace it with a newer alpine with mp3 support.

them in itunes,build a play list,burn it and they play on all the old players.

the MB changers are not noted for their flexibility in handling recording
formats. if you encounter playback issues with homebrewed recordings,
try varying the burn speed...as well as the intensity of the laser.

itunes,I just build the play list and burn them onto any brand cdr.Seems to work on any player.worth a try

The CD changer in my car plays burned CDs just fine. Brand of CD doesn't seem to matter. It's a fiber optic model BTW.

I've noticed this over the years also.
The Blaupunkt unit with 10 CD Changer that came with my car sometimes played CD-R's and other times wouldn't. Never an issue with Retail Purchased CD's.
This is due to the older units not being designed to play CD-R's.
Differant lead in points, Manufactors & burn speed will make a difference.
Use a top quality brand CD (not the 800Mb varients, good luck in finding them now) and a slower than listed burn speed.

i have the command navi system with front cd player(no 6 disc changer)
it wont play cd-r's unless they are in perfect condition and are SONY branded
it seems to be luck as well
