once you turn the headlight switch on, then pull it towards you. that will turn on the fog lights. if you don't want the fog lights and parking lights to stay on after you close the door and lock the car, then you should turn the key to position 2 (without starting the engine) and back to position 0 and remove key right after you turn off the car when you come to your destination. this way you can lengthen the lifespan of the bulbs, and people won't tell you anymore that you forgot your lights on.

If

you pull back two clicks, you look real dorky because that turns on the rear single fog light and everyone cept savvy MB owners will think you have a stuck brake light on.
Always use your fog lights for fog or night rain conditions that warrant the use, they are not intended as driving lights, serve no purpose as driving lights, and do not make you look any cooler

You can get an owners manual for your car at your dealer or by calling 800.for.merc

This is explained therein, of course.

Actually, I use the rear fog light every time its foggy, heavy rain, or sleet. Anytime I can make myself more visible to rear traffic I use what the rear fog light was intended for: being visible.

I don't care if I look dorky and it's not just savvy MB owners who will know. It's also Volvo and BMW owners since they, too, have the familiar European standard feature.

Be safe. Use it when it warrants additional safety.

Owners manuals added to EverythingBenz.com -- thanks ohlord :-)

Question: does anyone use the right/left parking lights or whatever they are? Are they used much in other countries?

I'm still learning things about the car. Just the other day I found out what the sun sensor was used for. Probably here on the forum.

I believe that MB (as other fine autos) have integrated these safety features for a reason. Not to use them would deminish the logic for owning one of the safest machines in the world. Yes, I use them.

That

is why I pointed out"Always use your fog lights for fog or night rain conditions that warrant the use"not never use the rear fog, just use it when appropriate, same as the front fogs. You don't look dorky when the fogs are used as intended, you do when it is a clear night and you are pimpin with the fogs on front and back.

Man, you said it.

Back in '92 or so we were in Germany on business and driving on the Autobahn on a snowy day. Whenever we got to a place where the fog/snow had lifted and failed to turn off foglights, we were soundly "flashed" by passing motorists. This includes those that passed us in our direction and noted the rear foglight still on--lots of arm waving. (Germans don't walk across intersections until the light is green, either.)

It's just hilarious how Americans treat these things as toys.

Kent

you are so dead on with that comment.Did you notice that the car commercials over there never have the disclaimers like we do about professional drivers on a closed course. They drive like their lives depend on it,most drivers here drive like it is more important to look cool.HID's in fog light housings?was up wit dat.
