If he is doing them(and I have seen shops tell there customers to change syn oil at 2500 milesand you know who that is benefiting and it is not the engine
)

This is nice compared to my '91 that I had to add oil to every 1k miles and change the oil every 3k at 50.00 a pop...
I once skipped an oil change by mistake on an Acura TL 3.2 using Amsoil. Put 22k miles on it with one filter and never had a problem with that engine at all.
Cheers
You are doing twice what it takes
Do you even carry them?
0w40 syn will go longer then 12k mercedes sets the fss at the 10k mile range use the fss range not every 5-6k miles.

do you use the factory suction method?

I have been running over 10,000 miles between oil changes since my 92 Lincoln was purchased in 93. Use Mobile 1 and all vehicles have gone over 200000 miles with no issues. There are studies that show changing M1 every 3000 miles will cause more engine wear. The oil actually gets better after 3000 miles. I also would follow the MB rec's for 229.5 0w40 M1 oil and use the correct fleece filter from MB.

For the details on the oil analysis and testing in a LS1 GM engine. The LS1 engine is what is in my corvette using M1 oils and it is driven on the track 1 each year and normal in town stop and go traffic. At 75,000 miles the engine still performs like a new engine on M1.
So if you want to change oil at 3000 miles feel free to do so, but do understand the wear on your engine and the $$ it takes to do so.
Have a nice day and be don't waste resources.
2004 and up 229.5 and 229.51
note: none of the 229.3 or .5 30wt oils are approved for use in the AMG engines
