Like your
ride quality?Stick with 18's you can put 275 on the rear and 235 on the front with the proper profiles and offsets and it will look mean and perform properly.
That is all I am goin to say on the subject.Let the debates begin

Stock, my rims are 17's and the ride is quite smooth. I havent installed the 19's yet (putting in a camber kit) but I have lowered my ride (eibach & #1 pads - putting the bilstiens in next week). I didnt go with 18's b/c I like the look of 19's and it seems a waste to me just to go up one inch from stock plus I got a good deal on them.
18's would be the best all around for looks and comfort and if my car came with 15's or 16's I would have bought 18's. 20's are too big IMHO. Do a search and you can find plenty of members who have posted pics of 18's, 19's and 20's on their rides. Just know that you'll have to address camber issues if you lower your ride. If you dont lower it youll have the 4x4 look with the larger rims thus defeating the whole "looks" purpose. If you lower it with larger rims and dont address camber youll go through (expensive) tires quick.
What I'm trying to say that is its a lot more to it than just picking out rims and putting them on your ride if you want to do it right. That being said 19's are the biggest I would go.
By the way, my car scrapes speed bumps just a little if I'm not careful with the #1 pads, eibachs, and 17's in the first pic. Second pic is stock height.

The guy thinks 20's are too small and everyone is telling him to go with 18's. Obviously he is not going to be happy with 18's. He wants a ridiculous looking donk. Why stop at 20's when he can go 40".
Maybe someone will be kind enough to photoshop these on a W210

Please post a picture when you are done.
18's will certainly fill the gap if you lower by an inch. We've all done it. No rubbing, no murderous punishment on rough roads, lighter weight, better gas mileage, quicker car, better cornering, less ghetto factor.
Besides, your profile lists a C300. Are you sure you are in the right place?

heh, the gap can be filled with 15s.... you don't get bigger wheels just by mounting bigger rims. you also need bigger tyres and then your wheels will make your ride height higher and the wheels will touch the fender and several other things when turning and driving in bumps.
235/40-18 will be the same as 215/55-16, 205/65-15 and 235/45-17
If you put on bigger tyres you will also get wrong speedometer reading and mileage on your car.
with 20s you can use 235/30-20 or 275/30-20. anything else will get wrong diameter.
SO, with the correct rim and tyre sizes, the gap will be ~the same.

I have 18"s with 265/35's all round. Ride can be a bit harsh but otherwise they are fine.

standard 18" wheels can my car be lowered again!
hi, please can any one tell me what bump pad is on my car by having a look at my pics! or is that next to impossible without actually using a spring clamp to have a look.
this is the amg standard w210 e36, was wondering if i could lower the car another 20mm or so?
by looking at some of the cars here they look lower than mine! this must add to the performance / road handling.
appreciate any input! thanks

mr.wiser, nice looking car, too bad the e36 didn't make it to the states. why you want to lower it more, amg w210 come more lowered than standard w210. you have a really nice suspension, i wouldn;t touch it. it looks really nice, perfect combination in my opinion.

You
can count the bumps on the current pads and go to the smallest pad there a 16mm total drop possible between biggest to smallest.
Or change springs and shocks. But then you will need the other suspension adjustment parts.

22"S ARE THE BIGGEST AND YOU CAN DO IT WITH NO LIFT
22'S ARE THE BIGGEST YOU CAN PUT ON AND YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE TO LIFT IT BUT I LIFT 1" WITH SPRING SPACERS AND JUST CUT THE PLASTIC PIECE IN FRONT OF BOTH FRONT TIRES AND YOU CAN MAKE U-TURNS WITH OUT SCRAPING ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS PUT 245/30/22 IM IN FLORIDA THE BIG RIM CAPITOL SO I SEEN A COUPLE W210'S ON 22"S PRE-FACE LIFT AND A COUPLE POST FACE LIFT ONES HES A COUPLE PICS ON 22"S
