AC Problems
Is your ec light on and you can;t turn it off?
Start there. If you are not aware that cars since late 1993 run R134a not R12,you might want to do the above and get more of an idea of what you need to do.
Thanks for the reply. Sorry if this is in some faq someplace but how do I run diagnostics on the climate control? I will do more research once I get home. The EC light is not on and I can press it and turn it on and off.
Thanks.
My car is 2000 E320 , When I turn on the AC fan at low speed , I hear a hiss sound come from front air blow....What's wrong???.Please help me ......Many Thanks..

post the values 1-8

either that or dirty cabin filters.

2 months ago I had it recharged and today the EC light came back on and no cold air. Just minutes before it came on the AC was blowing very cold.
Any thoughts on where to go from here? Thanks.

You will find the leak.
After repair run the onboard diagnostics in the climate control panel
http://www.eclassbenz.com/node/27
to see if you have anyother issues lurking in the wings.
I have used with warranty and new with warranty compressors if you discover it is the culprit.
My A/C in my 99 E320 is acting up. Passenger side of dash is blowing cold but the driver side is blowing much hotter air.
My sensors values are:
1 120
2 116
3 125
4 112
5 150
6 181
7 11
8 127
my codes are:
B 1234 and B 1459
Thanks for any help.

Thanks for any help.
don't let it run till operating temp of 180 which I see is what you did.
Sensor 5 evap sensor is throwing a temp that will shut down the ac to protect the compressor. So run the tests just as shown and post the values.
From the 150 value for evap sensor it looks to be the culprit.
Post them when you got them.
run the tests just like it tells you.
Post the values and errors.
What are your symptoms?
system working but not cold as you like?Etc.
when did it show the symptoms
Has any of our members or anyone for that matter come across this problem and if so any luck in solving the issue?
I have looked at www.eclassbenz.com/node/27 and my reading is somewhat similar to others and it is as follows:-
1. 98
2. 103
3. 82
4. 75
5. 123
6. 186
7. 13
8. 138
following
eb1231
eb1234
eb1459
e ff
However the site does not provide a real soultion to the problem, that is, how to go about fixing it.
I would really appreiciate if anyone can help.
Thank you kindly.

Your coolant temp is 186f so you must have ran the test with the car well warmed up.
Post the results when you have them. And then while in error mode clear the errors by hitting both auto buttons at the same time.
From the posted values you look to be low on 134a you could toss in a can and run the tests again. Also give the duo valve a tap on both sides with the handle of a screw driver. That often frees a stuck duo valve and the different temps on both sides issues.
Run the tests again properly since the evap temp sensor is showing a default temp. Easy diy. if it is.
I was wondering where I would find the duo valve in my '99 E320.
Also I redid with cold engine, started the car and waited 3-4 minutes and took the reading as follows:-
1. 89
2. 91
3. 80
4. 71
5. 120
6. 118
7. 11
8. 120
and
eb1231
eb1234
eb1459
e ff
Thanks once again
Cuz that 120 for the evap sensor is way high. Should be around 38-42f
so you may have other issues besides low r134a. Start with a partial can.
Give the duos a firm drum like thunk up aside the head

and get back to us after you do that and clear the error codes.
Cleaning the duo valves(most times the thunk frees them up)
is a diy posted on www.benzworld.org
w210 diy section so you can see where they are located as described above by our esteemed TMallison he know his stuff

Thanks for reply.....System is COLD... but sometimes I heard the HISS SOUND from the CENTER BLOW at LOW FAN SPEED.....I replaced the CARBIN FILTER....still HEARD the HISS..May be Low FREON , Do you think ?....If yes... Please help me.... How to check FREON on the system ?
Please reply ...many THANKS...Johnny...
RRun the tests post the values
punch them into the software program and then just add a partial can of r134a
since it is running cold it probably is just a bit low.
Low side fill port is up on the drivers side top of the engine on that aluminum tube. See the schrader valve

that is the one you want to use when you put a can in.
You don't need the ones with the fancy valves since the mb system is variable and gauges don't indicate fill.
The only way to get it dead on is pull the charge, evacuate the system and refill with the amount of proper oil and r134a as shown on the decal located on the plate by the ecu located on the passenger side back to the left of the engine.
You are just low so go the easy route. Just add a bit see if the hiss goes away. add a bit more if it does not.
You be the judge

Also, 'Oh Lord' it does blow regular temp air(not chilled) like after 10 minutes, if that means anything, let me know.
Thanks once again kindly and I will keep you posted with the results.
Thanks a bunch.
