Pulled P0170 and P0173

I pulled these codes on my car. I cleaned my MAF sensor, but I feel when the car is idle I see the rpm gauge moving up and down very little. Could this be a vacuum leak, or is it the MAF sensor?

Did

the code clear itself or is it still pending or did you erase it.
Maf's don't always respond to cleaning and it may return.Autohausaz.com has them for 168 delivered.Did you clean it with crc brand maf cleaner?did you dissemble it to clean it?

I reset the code. I used the best maf cleaner they had available, and I did disassemble the whole unit. I cleaned it and let it dry, then put it back in, drove it for 10 minutes and then I reset the codes. I can see the rpms moving slightly up and down at idle. I drove it to work this morning and the check engine light came back on again.

I noticed the Ebay MAFs are significantly less expensive than the others. What are your experiences with them in comparison to to the bosch ones?

I'd go with the OEM product rather than an insert probably made for a VW off of ebay.

Spread out over 50-100K miles the cost difference isn't worth worry about if/when the cheap one is going to fail.

autohausaz.com

ebay mafs are for the most part chinese clones that are sold by the container load for 18bucks each and then marked up to a price that seems fair but cheaper than the legit online suppliers. Most fail
$168 autohausaz.com
change your fuel filter first if it has been a while, often the cause for false values on the maf.diy on benzworld.org w210 diy section

i have had good luck cleaning the old maf, but it only lasted about a year. i went with the insert from germanstar.net. seems to work perfectly. $140 or so. but you may, like ohlord said, go with a whole new unit for $30 more form the source he named.
