Fog Light Experience and Advice (2000 E320)
The fog light housing has a connector on the bottom that connects to the car's wiring harness. This connector is exposed to the elements and under the car I am sure it gets wet from splash. The wires enter the connector and are soldered to female pin-ends that mate to the male pins on the fog light housing. One of mine was corroded and there was no connectivity from the wire to the pin.
If your fog lamp goes out, you can unplug it and check for 12v on these 2 pins. If you need to replace it, you need to cut it off close and install a new connector.
For future searchers, you need:
1 connector MB p/n 002-545-99-26 $4.34
2 pins MB p/n 018-545-38-28 $4.40 each
Can be fixed with car on jack stand through the access panel under the fog light.
PITA though.
Bob
Thank you in advance.

I'm under the impression that I need a socket, as in A0005400966.
While I cannot locate the ae1m part number, I did locate your recommendations in EPC. Just don't know how an H1 bulb will fit in what you've recommended.
Can't I simply purchase a pigtail terminated with the socket which fits into the foglamp housing, put shrink tubing at the splice and insert?

Those are correct wire repair numbers. They are only found in the service department wire tool kit, therefore not in the EPC for the parts department. They can be ordered, much like special tools.

i'm simply interpreting (and verifying) that these p/n are showing up in the
MB parts list, and their relative cost v dealer price. your dealer has the
option to jack up the price, natch.
as to whether they are the appropriate parts to resolve your situation, I will
defer to DJ and ae1 who have direct knowledge.
There has to be an aftermarket solution for replacing an OEM H1 fog lamp socket.

Both of these are wiring repair kits that can be used to repair the inner portion of the foglamp. The only aftermarket item would be the spade connector to the wiring harnesses, of which can be sourced anywhere. I hope this helps.
