2002 E320 wagon 4matic, looking to buy?

Helping a friend buy a car and we came across a nice looking and cared for E320 wagon with every option! It has 80,000 miles on her.

We are going to test drive it again in the AM. Any problem areas I should look at?

Thanks All

As with any pre-owned car, I would look at a verifiable service history to make sure all recalls have been addressed. A dealer's stamp and check boxes in the service booklet is a good indication, but also dealers have what's called a VMI (vehicle master inquiry) that will tell the tale.

The W210 series has some known rust issues, so the front spring perches should be inspected, and door seals because there was a factory bulletin involving the application of a grease-type sealant to be applied between the rubber seals and door-body frames. Lastly, although MB never officially recommended changing the transmission fluid and filter, this is highly advisable long before 80,000 miles.

party sale?About 4 grand to much is the biggest problem. That and the fact that you are thinking about it before inspecting it by a pro.Easiest way to get tempted into a big mistake and look past problems that are easy to forgive on an excited test drive.

Are you saying that it is overpriced by 4 grand?

I spent 2 hours with it today and I use to be a mechanic and still do all the work on my cars. I found a few problems but nothing major. I plan on talking to my local BM dealer today so they can run the VIN for me. It has 3 owners, first one for 4y/50,000 then 2 more. My dealer has serviced it for the last 10k.

If it all checks out as solid we are going to offer them 10k and see were we go.

It never pays to get attached to a particular car as that's when you will overpay. There are always more fish in the sea...
