I just put the part number in ebay search

Theres one on ebay for $99.99 , free shipping.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/96-97...Q5fAccessories

Heres another one for 149.99 that looks a little bit cleaner.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ENGIN...Q5fAccessories

Also check out www.car-parts.com

Look under Engine Computer , then 210 Type, Throttle Cont, (R Rr eng comp), (E320 & E420) , they have them down to $45 dollars.

Might want to open up the control unit and check for a loose connection or bad circuit board solder ...I Have seen bad solder connections on early fuel pump relays...It may work work you

Jumper that overpriced blackbox and slap a Holley 750 double-pumper on.

It worked in "Dukes of Hazzard" (or was it Macgyver?)

They said if i buy the new part at $1100.00 is has to be programmed for my car and that you cannot program the module more than once. Is this all true? I'm quickly growing tired of this project.

Mark I am in agreement with you on the examining of the current module. I planned on doing it once I got the car up and running. Looks like I may have to do it this way regardless.

Thanks

Once a ME control unit is locked it CANNOT be recoded ..Just like the late keys once they are coded they are locked ...If You want to use a Used one you will need several items from a donor car EIS AND Keys and a ME Control unit...

m104 should not have the married system. You have a regular key not Ir. correct and your ecu is dead or dying?
One time use key can marry all the units together.MB charges a fee for the key that unlocks the ecu and links the system together.A 97 should not have that issue.
if they can tap it and make it run you can heat sink it and locate the loose contact and repair it.

Red face

I plan on trying to repair the current ecu.

Ohlord , If I'm reading your post correctly I should be good to use the used module I purchased. Correct... I would keep te original as a spare or vis/versa aftera successful repair.

What is the correct way to heat sink the module?????

Thanks
