Chrome / Bronze Horizontal Window Trim

All-

The chromish / bronzish horizontal stips at the base of all four of my windows are rather corroded, although smooth. I tried Never Dull, and a couple of other products, with minimal results. Any ideas? Are new ones available, or has anyone else corrected this problem? Thanks...

Chris

My windshield header strip did the same thing. I replaced it with dealer inventory parts. Were still available as of last fall. Give them a try or call Autohaus.com or Potomac German Auto.

Thanks- I noticed that my back glass surrounding is a bit salty looking, too, now that you mention it!

The W124 I had before never did this they just got lighter with time but the newer W210 seems to be different material and prone to corroding.

300E a couple 1994 w124wagon E320 Wagon/,1971MGB Track/Rally, MG Midget Autocross ,2000 E320 wagon.
What year and model?

I can locate a set.Your only problem is the sun in SoCal will fade them out again. You can easily pop them off starting by gently prying up at the back end of the strip and then lifting back to front off the retaining clips and polish them with 0000 steel wool and then either paint and clear coat or if looking okay just clear.Or get a new or used set .

Best bet is to remove them and send out for powder paint...Semi gloss
They will Never fade again and costs less than a new set

Mercedes and Porsche trim is anodized and that plating will fade

Nice call- I've actually got a few cans of 744 paint, so a strip and paint will come out quite nicely assuming I can get them off easily...

Let me know how it comes out. I am working on headlights right now so all tied up with that project and assembly of an old Boss 302 motor.
