How to remove rearview mirror?

Just got a good used rearview mirror to replace my wobbly mirror, and haven't quite figured out how to remove the old one...anybody know?

The link doesn't say much...does that mean I have to remove the dome light assemply? I didn't notice any bolt holes on my "new" mirror, so how is it that the mirror attaches?

Hmmm...I don't see any video when I open that page. Just a blank square with a little red "x".

Anyone? Video doesn't work for me. A simple description of how to remove the rear view mirror would be helpful.

Argh! The mirror just does not want to come off. I cannot use the mirror housing itself for leverage as he does in the video because it is loose and will snap off the mount. I'll have to give it a try in the morning as my fingertips are raw and my cursing was bound to wake up the neighbors...

Got it off, but thought I was going to pull down the headliner in the process. So...old one is off and new one is connected (does work with original central locking - no coding needed), but I am hesitant to jam in up there any more without confirming this is the proper method...above all I do NOT was to mess up the "new" mirror, which took me over a year to find.

So...just tuck the connectors into their spaces on the mirror base and just shove it up there in a similar fashion to removal, or is there a particular "way" to do this?

Sticky, you have it right. Just tuck all the wires up in the spaces up in the headliner, keeping them away from the rectangular mounting hole. Grasp the mirror base and pop that thing(it takes a bit of force) into that hole. The spring on the mirror base hold it firmly in the mounting hole.

Sticky, where did you get that replacement mirror? I have the same problem as you. I was worried that the central locking sensors would not work with a replacement mirror.

Took me a year of searching on ebay to find one at a reasonable price...almost settled on a gray one for my beige interior, but luckily came across this one. Central locking will work fine. Found a bunch of w210s being parted out on craigslist, but they all had gray or black interior.

Central locking will work fine.

I believe you said that the old one was wobbling. When you took it off did you check it to see if it could be fixed? Did something break inside?

The plastic lip of the mirror that held onto the mirror pivot was cracked in several places, and I managed to totally destroy the rest of the mirror upon removal.

Mine is all wobbly too and it always made me dizzy sometimes especially at night. Is there anyway I can just fix it? I bet it's hard to find one.

You can fill it with silicone, but then it would no longer be adjustable

My present mirror is in good condition for the exception of the HomeLink operating. Was told be dealer that the contacts were not making full contact and mirror required to be replaced at the cost of $1,100. Wow = No hm link.
Located a used mirror for my '05 Mercedes E320 that the hm link was suppose to work. Now for installing it: It sure looks scary to just to "yank" it off. But I guess that's the way it suppose to be R/R according to all the reviews, CORRECT?? Thanks for your comments. Manuel R
