surely parts like that have not changed over years any how ..
And then look at the last set of letter and numbers of the vin tag located on the dash or behind the licence plate and buried around several other places on mercedes.




1) On the engine itself (stamped on the back of the engine)
2) A data card that comes with the car.
3) From a VIN decoder like the Russian MB site below. You put in the VIN, it wil generate the same data card mentioned in 2).

If it is not the original engine, then 1) is the only reliable method.
What you can read directly (other than on the engine) is the chassis number, not the engine number.

The engines stayed the same,Mid year mounts changed with the chassis numbers. Always the last several numbers of the vin.'
