Motul Inugel for coolant in a W210?

I have a hard time getting the proper coolant for my 1996 E320.

I can get my hands on Motul inugel, is it okay to use it for my merc?

Why not use the original MB coolant like you're supposed to?

Since i want to drain all the coolant in my car, the stock here in Cebu, Philippines is limited to only one dealer and they charge like $40 per liter.

Places like autohausaz ship internationally and have the OEM coolant for about $22 gal. Don't know what shipping is but you'll only need one gallon as it is intended to be diluted 50:50 with water and 2 gallons should fill the system.

Do they ship liquids/fluids internationally?

I don't know about that particular engine, but most MB engines takes 9-11 liters of coolant.

Not positive one would have to check with them but if I was facing $160 / gal locally, I'd take the time.

If you just drain the radiator and expansion tank you get about 8 liters or ~2 gals hence my recommendation especially if the cooling system is being serviced regularly (ie flush every 3 yrs). Topping off with a little water will still put the OP in the 45:55 to 55:45 acceptable range.

I just picked up the car used and I asked the previous owner if he had changed the coolant and he hasn't. That's why i really feel the need to do the job.

I should check with autohausaz to see if they do ship internationally or i'll just have to suck it up and buy it locally.

I can get the Motul Inugel for $40/gallon which is a lot cheaper then the MB coolant, that's why i was asking about the Motul.

Cooling system construction has gotten more complicated than in the past. Mixtures of aluminum, copper, steel and various plastics require a compatible chemistry to prevent corrosion and fouling. You might do some research online on Motul Inugel to see if you can find any references to Mercedes. Also check the label on the bottle.

Another alternative is Zerex G05. Many consider it a suitable replacement for the OEM coolant but I have no personal knowledge about that.

Good luck.

on benzworld.org one of the mods was nice enough and gave me a list of coolant that i can use in my E320. here's the link:

Now, i'm pretty sure i can get the castrol and the caltex brands here. I just want to be sure that these brands won't hurt the car.

The cooling system on a mercedes is very, VERY, complex and anything else than original coolant is not recommended. using a cheaper coolant may end up costing you more than the difference up to the cost of original coolant.

note: may, not will. but mercedes has done research on this and has special additives designed to protect their engines optimally. MB-coolant would not be the first choice on another car brand though..
